  • In theory they could consider to monitor his driving behaviour (Telematics company) without you knowing.
This absolutely happens on vehicles sold by manufaturers with telematics systems installed. Clearly they would rather you subscribe.

Can you get to the sim card yourself in these black boxes ?

This is not what happens. The sims are automatically de-activated remotely when a policy is lapsed or cancelled to comply with DPA.

Trying to remove the sim yourself is not advisable. Different boxes use different technology, some use a 'chip sim' which means that it is part of the motherboard and not easily accessible. Besides, tampering with the box would generate an alert and could incur charges. Not worth the hassle.
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Do they have to advise you if they are 'auto renewing'? I can't see anything in the T&C's ?

Legally I believe all car insurance companies have to automatically renew, to prevent accidental lapses. They'll typically inform you 2-4 weeks prior with a renewal quote which will state something along the lines of this being automatically taken on X date unless you contact them to cancel.
"You did not pull yourself up by your bootstraps. You were lucky enough to come of age at a time when housing was cheap, welfare was generous, and inflation was high enough to wipe out any debts you acquired. I’m pleased for you, but please stop being so unbearably smug about it."

    This is defiantly not true.

Insurance companies will offer an auto renew in the hope that you do not check the renewal fee and they get your business at an inflated rate for another year.

Some are now offering an 'opt out' when you buy your insurance so that it will not auto renew.
