This is true but my point was IMO 35 hours is excessive and how would you prove it. But as you said he has agreed to the terms so he will just have to try his best to keep the JC happy with his job searching. I personally wouldn't bother for £70 per week0 -

It might be for some people for others it might not.
If somebody is doing their utmost in a shorter time and would not benefit from doing anymore then fine, you just have to stretch the truth when reporting back.0 -

So happy you don't need £70 a week but in the real world it's often all the money they have and not only needs to pay the household expenses but also towards rent.
You clearly earn enough to not need benefits but many rely on them!0 -

All I was saying IMO was I wouldnt faff around for 35 hours a week for £70 - but obviously some people have no other option and thats the terms they agreed to although I think DWP are asking abit much really for 35 hours.0 -

Tbf the DWP will push claimants to do as much as possible in order to successfully find employment.0 -

You're not faffing around for £70, you're faffing around to get yourself back into work. If I needed a job I'd put in every bit of effort it required, you'd be surprised how long a structured and targeted application can take.0 -

Yes I agree which is their aim. The JC probably know proving 35 hours is near enough impossible but it sets a target for people so if it helps them get in employment its a plus point.0 -

I think my post wasnt worded correctly for which I apologise. What I mean is by the time you apply, wait for your appointment, wait for your first payment you could have found work. Work is easy to find if you look for it, agency work, pubs, fast food places, cleaning jobs etc.. Many may not be suitable long term but they will bridge the gap - when I lost my job I found another within 3 weeks so when I say I wouldnt faff about I mean all the time you spend applying and going to interviews etc you coul of got some form of employment in most areas.. if work isnt very good in your area move to somewhere where it is0 -
How are you supposed to move area with no money?0
