    Not quite.

Ringing is when you obtain/steal a car and put the numbers from another car (possibly written off) onto it.

Cloning is when you put the details of a car onto another one so in effect 2 identical cars running around.

So both are giving a stolen car a new identity?

Ringing is taking the identity of one car and putting it on another

The car that has the identity put on it will hardly be a legal vehicle will it !
There are several forms of ringing a vehicle ..... Of which i won't go into

Cloning means there are 2 cars with the same identity, ringing there is only 1 car with a fake identity.

Cloning means you make your car look like someone elses, so any attention is drawn towards them.

Ringing is where you buy a car cheap (such as an undeclared write-off, or a cat C/D) to take the legal identity from that wrecked car and apply it to a stolen car in working order, thus making your stolen car look legitimate (and presumably why there are a lot of high end non-declared written off Audis on eBay)

Yes, and if they were the innocent party?

If they were the innocent party they would technically be uninsured, so would be a case of trying to claim off the guilty party, which may or may not be successful if the car shouldn't have been on the road.

It matters not about the insurance status to claim off some else's policy.

So where is that fake identity from ? Another Car - So 2 cars too ! One has no identity and the other has the identity from that car on it .... But still 2 cars .

Ringing doesn't need fake documents either , cloning means all the documents are fake and harder to sell as very few people would buy a car with no documentation .

Not necessarily and given your previous claim you should know that.
