Is it possible to take a number of multi music MP3 files that I have collected over the years {all around say 56 to 75mb} and merge them into one larger file to then transfer to say a memory card or stick rather than waste a lot of bigger cards and if so what is the best way to go about it with a Windows 8.1 PC.

Perfectly possible to merge MP3 files. First hit on google take you to http://download.cnet.com/Free-Merge-MP3/3000-2140_4-75327315.html which would appear to do the job.
But I don't understand which you think not doing so wouldwaste a lot of bigger cards. My postings reflect my lifetime's experience and my opinion. You are quite welcome to respond with your experiences and option, whether similar or different.0 -

Because if I could only put {say} a 65 or 71 mb file on a 4 GB card to play straight through without me needing to choose the next 65 mb file to play it would be a waste of card space. What I would like to do is say to collect all my jazz small files together to make one large file {10/15 hours worth} then do the same on a new card for 60's music ect without having to keep opening the next file on the large card when one file ends and I want the next one to start.I perhaps should have said that I want to use the cards with MP3 players away from my PC/laptop.
I have 80/90 small files of jazz and each one although small in size plays for between 1 hour and 4/5 hours and putting them all on a say 6/8 GB card means one press and I could have up to 24 hour straight playing :0)0 -
Its an odd MP3 player which won't cycle on to the next track automatically ?0

Which player are you using?
I've used iPod, FiiO, Sony, and AGPTek, and none of them had any problem playing one file, then the next, then the next...... and only playing files within a folder/genre/artist etc0 -
I have a number of players both old and new some I have had no problems with them playing from one music file {folder} to the next but one or two play the folder that I start then after that has played through will not go to the next folder to carry on playing.
Perhaps I have not been clear and for that I am sorry, I have a number of folders that contain the music files but each folder size is as I have stated, what I want to do is take each folder and make them into the size of the memory cards I have {1 GB upwards} that way I will {I hope} take {say 30/40 folders all around 50/60 MB and make then into GB ones, then put them onto my bigger cards. I hope this makes sense :0)0 -
Sure you've just not found the correct player setting that will allow continuity to the next folder ?
What model of player is causing you a problem ?
Try generating a playlist for the entire card (usually .m3u) and put that in the root folder of the card and see what happens when you tell the mp3 player to play that list.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

Why can't you just create a new folder and copy all the mp3 files into it?0 -

I did not know I could do that, I take it all I do is drag and drop into a new folder then transfer that folder onto my memory card/sticks??.
I know you may think how could I not know that I could do it but I am not up with computers ect so would rather as what people like yourself would class as a stupid question and be given the right answers to start with.

One is a Seal CD/radio/mp3 player that I got about 8 years ago, the other is one bought in Europe while on holiday without any name/model but with the information you have suggested I will try that and see if that does what I hope it will do.
One more question though, with the mp3 files I have I notice that volume of the files can be one loud but the next file is quieter. I know if I use the files on my PC or laptop I can use an equalizer to get a standard volume through all the folders, is it possible to use something like that to get all my folders to the same volume onto the memory cards/sticks to play through the mp3 players or will I need to redo all the music again through one system??0 -

Yes. Create new folder, copy/paste your mp3 files into it, copy/transfer that folder to mp3 device.I know you may think how could I not know that I could do it but I am not up with computers ect so would rather as what people like yourself would class as a stupid question and be given the right answers to start with.
That's fine. Don't be offended, but copy/pasting files, moving things around different folders, etc. is one of the basics that, if you don't know it, you should be teaching yourself. There's lots of guides out there - google can be your friend. Just google "how do I - - - - -" and replace the dashes with what you want to do.One is a Seal CD/radio/mp3 player that I got about 8 years ago, the other is one bought in Europe while on holiday without any name/model but with the information you have suggested I will try that and see if that does what I hope it will do.
... or get one WITH a name. Honestly, I've never heard of Seal. One more question though, with the mp3 files I have I notice that volume of the files can be one loud but the next file is quieter. Audacity, and other music file editing programs will do this, but you may have to do it individually for each track, which could be time-consuming.
Look for a new player with a normalisation facility. Different makers may have other names for it.0 -
However, if you're in the mood for a new player, this one is excellent, and even if you leave all your files in their current folders, and copy them to it, it will still play happily the first folder, then move on to the next, and to the next, etc.

I have no connection with the maker, etc etc0
