Hi - from start to finish it has taken 7 and a half years! However, the committal bit has taken about a year and a half due to the delays caused by first the CSA in preparing the case and secondly the solicitors in preparing it also!!! It first went to Court in March for the Show Cause (as he had breached the order to pay the monthly installments previously agreed in Court in February 2005), this took 13 months to get to Court from his default in January 2006.

Today it was adjourned for another 4 weeks for the money to be paid by the mortgage company - the time was only because the CSA couldn't get to Court before then due to other hearings, so hopefully it will be paid before then.

If they have already got the liability order and a charging order and have started committal proceedings you won't have to wait too long. It depends on what he does in Court - they wil probably agree a monthly figure for him to pay, but it will only be for arrears, so if he only pays that then they will have to get more liability orders and start the process again in respect of the debt which builds up after this lot. They may order him to remortgage which is what they did with my ex as he broke his order. They seem to be taking cases to Court much more quickly than ever before now!

I am hoping that it may be paid by then and that the 4 weeks is just a formality to show that it has been paid already.

Hi Kelloggs, as a divorced father (who pays his way and then some) with an amazing 14 year old daughter, I just wish I could get hold of your ex and make him understand what he is missing not being in his kids lives. I just don't know how these people can sleep at night, particularly with the news about your daughter's exam results. Tears of pride and joy for me if mine achieves that!!

Thank you very much for your kind words. I can't believe that he really doesn't want anything to do with her as I have never stood in his way. I had a phone call from his wife last January out of the blue and she was chatting away as though I were a long lost friend which was extremely odd considering that they have not made contact in 5 years and the last contact was her actually telling my daughter that her dad didn't want anything to do with her any more!! I listened to her and I'm afraid I gave it to her straight that I didn't believe a single word that she said, and that if my daughter's father gave even a single thought to my daughter then he should have tried to make contact as he knew that I wouldn't be difficult about it - after all she is quite old enough to make up her own mind. I said that I may believe her words if her husband might like to contact his daughter directly and gave her mobile number to her. She said 'I can't guarantee anything, but I will give the number to him' - needless to say he never called!

One day he will wake up and realise what he has missed. I hope for everyone's sake it is not too late.
