Improve ageing laptop?

MrsB has my 'cast off' Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 1718 (MS2212) I think/hope that I have fixed it's recurring BSOD by uninstalling the display drivers and using the generic Windows one. I took the bottom off to check for dust etc and reseated the RAM, but neither of these things helped till I uninstalled the display drivers.…

Good morning

So, first job, I removed the x16 RAM, polished the connections with a rubber and re-seated them - it only recognised 1MB
Then I re-inserted the old x8 modules and hey presto ... it recognises both.
I've screwed the bottom back on and keeping my fingers crossed.
