Hi all
So im moving into a flat on Monday, which by the looks of things has had Telewest cable installed. Im thinking of getting VM and came across this:
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/help/quickstart.html
Quickstart. Would this work with my Telewest cable line? I'll of course check it out again when I move in before I order etc etc.
Cheers

You just need to screw the supplied coaxial cable from the wall to the modem, then a Cat5 or USB cable between that and your PC.
If you get stuck, they'll send an engineer round for nothing (when they can)...or just ring them and they'll check your connection is switched on.
It should work straight out of the box....try and avoid installing their bundled supplied software...it's crap.
The most you'd need is the USB modem drivers if you decided to install that way instead of to a network card.0 -
If you're considering Virgin, I presume you're aware of their customer service problems? If not, it might be worth searching this forum. I've just taken them to court and won. They were as much use as a 3 legged donkey!0

I had arranged to have Telewest installed (tv, phone and internet) just before the change over to virgin media. As I was going to be working when the engineer was to arrive I had arranged for my parents to be at my flat and called to advise Telewest of this and even gave them my dads mobile number incase of any problems. When the engineer arrived he told my parents he was unable to instal the service as it had not previously been in the flat - even although there is a telewest phone point and my account number started with 2 which sales told me meant it was - and he would need to arrange for a cherry picker to bring the cables into my flat. He also said that I would receive a phone call to inform me of my options. As I hadn't receved a call by the following night I called them to be told that it takes 48 hrs for them to call me and as that would be saturday and they would be busy it would probably be Monday. So I waited until wednesday and called them again to be told I was never going to get a call as the engineer had reported back that he could not go ahead due to my parents being in and knowing nothing about cable being installed!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I told them where to stick there services and BT had my phone conected the following day.0
