  • Argos sells them if all else fails.

With the usual corollary of "If its from Argos - then check it carefully as soon as you've bought it (ie because of the number of times they sell damaged/faulty goods)".

We just waited till 17:30, when all the shops in our town's main street put out the cardboard for recycling, helped ourselves and took the non-useful stuff to the[STRIKE] tip[/STRIKE] recycling centre the following day.

Most supermarkets flat pack the cardboard boxes down to go in the compacter. If you ask them they'll save you some and they're so much easier to transport if they're flat packed. Chip boxes are particularly strong. Just buy a roll of parcel tape and job done!

We made a few trips to Home Bargains who were happy to give us spare boxes. Also, as well as Gumtree, check freecycle.

I got loads of boxes from deliveries at work when stationary etc, office furniture and any supplies were delivered. Also got all the packing materials which came with them. But have tried to save by packing soft stuff in suitcase etc, and also by purchasing a big roll of industrial cling film- going to wrap this round drawers of clothes and take those, then on small units (bedside tables etc) wrap drawers and put them back in the unit so they can be transported whole

Banana boxes from the Co-op - for free! The staff are always pleased to give away boxes so they don't have to break them down for recycling!
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

+1 on the McDonald's boxes go for the fries box as they are strong and a good size.

Someone down my road used the McDs boxes and dumped them outside. Asked could I take them for a friend and the said ok. The ones I remember picking up were for drinking cups and Happy Meal toys.

A colleague's son used to work for them and they went through 10 boxes of cups a week - 13 a week during the school holidays.

If you want small bits of bubble wrap to wrap around glasses, ornaments etc, go around the apples and pears section of supermarkets and take them from the boxes.

Also binliners for clothes - if you get extra large ones leave the hangers on and use them like garment bags. Then you can put them away immediately.

A local garden centre puts boxes by the exit door. Might be worth looking at some.
