Hi folks,
I bank with one of the banks in RBS group and use Trusteer Rapport as recommended by them. I always have a separate windows installation for that bit extra security that I use for online banking only, no browsing.
Today when I went to login to the RBS bank as usual Rapport was activated at top of ie11 turns green, but I after I entered my user id not passwords I got a pop up from Rapport saying that the details were being sent to demdex.net as well, of course I didn't proceed any further, I contacted bank to ask them about it, but they only advised a professional virus clean( I can do that myself)
Anyone on here have an idea why Rapport should react in that way with the pop-up about details being sent to demdex.net.
I did a online search and whilst info is very scarce there seems to be something about adobe acquiring an online tracking company with a very similar name.
Anyone else seen this and any info very much appreciated. I have scanned with avast and antimalwarebytes but both scans clean.
Thinking of just reinstalling windows in that partition, but if its got something to do with adobe flash it might just come back again with a Rapport pop up.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks

I bet you still run as an administrator and not a standard user on you second install ?
I'd get rid of trusteer anyway, better still use linux for banking.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

I totally agree and would recommend as an operating system for banking one of the varieties of Linux Mint such as Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.2.0 -
Thanks for replies.
Rather than installing Linux is it really secure just to run a live cd of the version, and bank that way, even though there may be no antivirus to load on that cd?
Since its a live cd even without antivirus installed is that an almost totally secure environment?
Thanks0 -
linux, separate partitions and windows installations, livecd's, just for banking?
Everone else seems to manage just fine without going to these extremes.
rbs has adobe tracking/analytics/tag manager on their website, that's not going to change if you use linux.
Why not ask mr rapport if you're concerned, or block demdex in hosts.

Thank you very much indeed for this additional information about RBS using tracking software on their website. A further web search brought this up,
http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressreleases/201101/011811AdobeDemdex.html
This issue has caused me a great deal of inconvenience as when I was logging into RBS website the pop up from rapport mentioned that my details were being sent to a outside website demdex.net (not available on net by the way) and Rapport totally left the decision to me whether to continue or the option "Get me out of here" Of course I only want my details sent to RBS, not an outside website which could be totally fraudulent.
I honestly thought that somehow I had been hacked or had a virus so I contacted RBS who passed me onto the fraud prevention department. I told them about demdex but they never heard of it and suspended my online banking. I did an avast and malwarebytes scan all clear, but to be on safe side I reinstalled windows and all updates, must have taken up about 10 hours of my time. I also contacted rapport but they know nothing about demdex either.
I haven't installed adobe reader or flash as I had some sneaking suspicion it might be something to do with them, Isn't the reason that we take the banks advice to use Rapport so to make things more secure and not scare people that somehow they are being hacked or have a virus?
Thanks for info.0 -
Barclays also use Omniture (adobe) https://www.barclays.de/en/web/corporate/data-protection0

Thanks, if this should happen again with RBS how do I block Demdex in hosts, is that within the Rapport console itself?
Thanks once again0 -
