BT and MAC code

Hi folks, looking advice. Just spent 45mins on phone to BT trying to get a reduction in my package price before the BIG price hike to no avail.

Have Infinity 1 capped to 40GB
girl kept saying I didn't go over the limit therefore didn't need unlimited (even though I explained I hadn't been downloading from sky and I player because of capped BB)

Couldn't get anywhere, then when I kept asking for my MAC code she said I didn't exist anymore. Does anyone know if this is correct or are they pulling a fast one by not passing me on to disconnection team.

Thanks A........

They don't exist anymore, they were abolished a few weeks ago, the new system is gaining provider lead (just need postcode and phone number)

    Thanks mwarby....

Just wondering if it's not needed now how do you get through to the retention dept now in hope of getting a good deal to keep you?

Just phone up and say you are thinking of leaving and they should make you an offer.

The MAC process was done away with because often enough the losing provider would drag out giving you the code or try to retain your business which was considered unfair to the gaining provider.

    Thanks LazyTyper.

Seems another way of trying to keep people locked in. At least with code you could make a good threat to leave.

Oh well, think BT will have to suffer me phoning again tomorrow night,

Thanks again for all the help everyone....

It's the opposite, you can leave without talking to your existing provider now, so it makes you less "locked in" and there's no need to threaten to leave, you just leave without telling them.
