Easiest way to buy a tracker?

My hubby has just asked me (in my p.a./general dogsbody capacity) to sort him out a 4K tracker ISA with this year's allowance. He isn't interested in any other funds (I did ask!).

He already has an existing M&G FTSE tracker ISA, and a Selftrade ISA. What's going to be the easiest way to sort him out with this?

I figure if he goes for M&G the paperwork should be minimal. I've only ever bought shares via Selftrade, not funds, but assume I could sort him out a tracker equivalent that way too, with, again minimal paperwork?

I am, as you might have gathered trying to make life easy for both of us, as trying to get him to sort paperwork out is a bit of a nightmare!

If he wants the poor performance of the tracker he may as well get him to purchase it as an ETF rather than a unit trust. Probably by self trade.

self trade are expensive for unit trusts.

Buy an ETF in the Selftrade ISA - they are traded like shares, so same procedure. Purchase is free of commission in the ST ISA. More info on the ishares site.
