Just been to the post office, the cost is 46p so it must be over 60g. Is refunding on paypal easy, or would I be best sending a cheque/cash?

Thanks for all your help so far, I will defeniately going to the post office from now on. However the way it is going it is costing me more than its worth!

If the buyer originally paid by paypal then log into your paypal account and into the transaction details. About three quarters of the way down the page there is the option to refund, click that and you can enter the amount to ne refunded. The buyer then receives a straight refund and doesn't pay any charges.

Alternatively just send the buyer a cheque, whichever you prefer.

    Just clarifying postage here

The item was over 60 grams ...that would 46p 1st class or 35p second.

It was noticed that it was over weight having only a 30p (1st class stamp) on it

Therefore it was sent second class .... the reciever would have been asked for the difference ...... 5p plus the £1 handling charge.

Plus.... its now a maximun compensation £30 on a COP, recorded etc , it went up with the price of a 1st class stamp .

I definately put a first class stamp on it, so does this mean that it might not have been my item? Or does that mean that royal mail just decided to send it 2nd class/ add the extra second class 5p postage charge (plus the £1 handling charge)?

Thanks if you can clear this up. The guy still hasn't got back to me to let me know whether it was my item.

If you put a first class stamp on it.... and it weighed over 60 grams THEN royal mail WOULD have sent it second class and asked for the extra at the other end plus £1 handling charge.

up to 60 grams is 30p 1st class and 21p second
up to 100 grams is 46p 1st class and 35p second

You did not have enough stamps on you package to cover either 1st or 2nd class mail.

Get a leaflet from the PO and a set of scales .... we have all made errors with mail costs! :-) But the ideal situation is weighing it a the PO and getting a COP too!!
