7 Years ?

Hi Guys.
I notice that this site is saying we can claim flight delay compensation for up to 7 years. I thought it was 6 years and so rang the Civil Aviation Authority to check, they advised that I could only claim up to 6 years back.
So, can anyone tell me why this site is saying 7 years ?
I have a claim that will be 7 years old in September 2015.
Any info much appreciated.
Regards.

Only 6 years (5 in Scotland) .... people on this forum (in the know) have tried to persuade MSE to amend but they will not.0

It is an EU regulation, you can go back as far as 2005.
BUT, when the airline rejects your claim, the time limit to go to court varies country by country. As 111KAB says, 5 years for Scotland, 6 for England and Wales. Some European countries may be longer, others shorter
I would suspect every airline would reject claims outwith the court claim period as they know there is absolutely nothing you can do about it when they do0 -
Technically it's correct for you to be able to claim since the Regulation came into being.
So, a delayed flight originating in Spain, for instance, that has a 10 year statute on limitations to bring claims to court, could still be claimed for, in a Spanish Court, with all paperwork being in Spanish etc etc
But as there's no penalties in the UK for airlines to completely ignore you, or lie to you, then the chances of them acknowledging a claim that is outside of the court claim period are very low indeed.0
