Hi
Looking for some advice.
We bought a new mattress last week to replace our 7 year old memory foam one (all foam) and went to lots of shops and tested a few out.
Now reading reviews etc pocket sprung was the way to go. Memory foam was way to hot for us in the summer and had dents where we laid to sleep.
We tested out 1000/1400/2000 pocket sprung mattresses with memory and latex and all seemed comfy and solid. We liked the medium firmness.
We then seen a 2000 pocket sprung with latex topper on Amazon on their Prime Day. Medium firm too so placed the order. Arrived and looked lovely.
So now a week later both mine and my Wife's back are always aching when we wake up.
Now before we look at returning it (30 days to do so) would this get any better, is this just our backs getting used to the structure of the new bed having slept on a memory foam for 7 years which was very soft, and too soft. You more or less sunk in the mattress.
Or is this it, if so we need to look at replacing it. This mattress was a decent price. Selling price now is £460 and had it for £330. But thought we sleep in this for 8 hours a day so need a decent mattress.
Any advice would be great.

We went from a memory foam topped mattress (felt like sleeping in a ditch) to a pocket sprung & have never looked back. It was better straightaway. Not sure I'd buy a mattress online without trying it out somewhere first, as you say you spend a lot of time on it. We tried lots in the shops & (of course) found you had to spend quite a bit for comfort. Our Harrison cost nearly £1000 for a superking zip-link pair.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

You need to give it more than a week to get used to it.
We bought our pocket sprung mattress from Dreams and they wouldn't entertain a replacement before 40 days, as that is how long it takes to adjust to your new mattress. Apparently.0 -
That's a good Catch 22! You must return it within 30 days but you have to give it 40 days to adjust!Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I did test this make out, just of course not this exact mattress.
We give it another week and see how it goes, i'm hoping its going to be fine as its a lovely mattress.0 -
I have a pocket sprung mattress with a latex top. Had a waterbed before that, so it's a bit different. I love it, very comfy.
Mine's from Dreams - they told me I could return any time within 30 days if I didn't get on with it, but I should know within about 3 weeks.0 -
New mattresses are a bit traumatic.......I bought a new one from dreams a couple of years ago and changed it umpteen times under their comfort guarantee (and its still not right but stuck with it now...for me....if they are too soft and unsupportive i get a back ache and if they are too firm they literally hurt my body and are painful to sleep on..........maybe it possibly is your body adapting to a more supportive mattress.......but having said that, if your backs are aching I would imagine the mattress isnt right for you......
Hope you get it sorted out as there is nothing worse than an uncomfortable mattress.....
In my dreams i am the owner of a top of the range V sprung mattress that is absolutely heaven to lie on........
I i was once described as being like the princess and the pea where mattresses are concerned....they just never are right but then again my budget doesnt stretch to the very expensive mega comfy ones.......if i won the lottery the first thing i would do is buy the most expensive and comfortable mattress on the planet....0 -
They will take a used mattress back?
What base are you using?
I have just moved from a sprung base to a slat base and the difference is noticeable.0 -
Got a John Lewis Natural Collection Yorkshire wool mattress in Kingsize and have to say its wonderful. The only possible back problems I'm likely to get from it are when having to turn it as it weights about 60kg!0

I had one from Dreams - lasted for less than a year - 2000 pocket sprung + latex top.
It collapsed in the middle - had to go back - bought an Octaspring memory foam.
