Insp light comes on

14k since last oil/filter,
How would you reset the light yourself ? (can't honestly say how long it has been on for, but surely it could ? mean all sorts of things/faults ?)0 -
14,000 since last oil change please do not take this "just reset the light" advice, get the car serviced, the oil is overdue a change.
Carbon build up is a killer in oilways in engines, it needs a change ASAP, better still a flush and change.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Either drop into one of the big chains for an oil & filter change, and they'll likely reset the light for you if you ask, or nip to Halfords, who are selling oil for vauxhalls @ £12, pick up a filter and change it yourself, then google reset insp light vectra .I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

As above, the car keeps track of how many miles it's done since the service indicator was last reset. When it's next due for a service ( i.e. it's done 12000 miles or whatever the interval is for your car ), you get the "Insp" showing as you describe.
If you've had it serviced recently and the garage just forgot to reset the indicator, you can easily reset it yourself :

If it hasn't been serviced - well, you can still reset the indicator if you want, but you really should get it serviced ( either at a garage or do it yourself - a basic service is not at all difficult ). As others have pointed out, if you do nothing else then at least change the oil and filter. It's the single most important thing you can do to prolong the life of the engine, and this being MSE we all want our cars to last as long as possible without major repair bills :-)0
