Hi folks,
I know that there is a windows 10 thread on here but its rather long so forgive me for starting this thread.
I have a question as regards someone who upgrades to windows 10 from windows 7 OEM and for various reasons doesn't like 10 because software doesn't work etc and decides to go back to windows 7 OEM.
I know that there one can roll back to windows 7 OEM from within windows 10 for 30 days (after this the backup of windows 7 files gets deleted) but someone has stated on another forum that if you don't roll back within 30 days, that after this you don't have a licence to run windows 7 OEM any more, and this applies to any clone or image backup that you may wish to install of windows 7 OEM. In other words if you install a disk image of windows 7 OEM after 30 days it may well be flagged as not genuine.
I was under the impression that you could revert to windows 7 OEM at any time even after the 30 days are up, and you could reinstall an image of windows 7 OEM and everything would be ok.
I know that I will probably like windows 10 and only reason I would want to go back to windows 7 would be of software compatibility issues.
This thing about not having the licence to run windows 7 OEM after 30 days certainly muddies the water for me.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks a lot.

Before you upgrade to win 10 just so a full system backup of your current system on an external drive.
Then you can go back to win 7 any time you like.
Just make sure you keep backups or copies of any of your documents and files that you want to keep safeLaters

Scroll down to the question about whether you can revert to win 7
you have one month to go back - then your are stuffed forever.0 -
Some time ago I bought two identical Western Digital hard drives to the one used in my main workstation as Drive C.
I put them in USB caddies and periodically use Acronis True Image software to make an identical MBR clone of the C Drive so that if ever it fails, I can simply swap a clone in and be up and running again in no time.
Before I update to Win 10, I shall be updating my Win 7 clones so that at any time I can swap one in and retain a choice of OS. Well that's the theory anyway.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -

Nonsense..... You will always have the option of a clean install.0 -
just been reading up on this , read this as well http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-33637586
1: you have 30 days to "roll back"
2: as niftydigets says , nothing to stop you doing a clean re install of win 7/8
roll back , is to roll back , clean install is to say "sod it" in 32 days and reload the OS supplied with the machine.
at least Microsoft offer a roll back , unlike apple on there iphones , and peoples stuck with an un usable OS0 -
Well from what I read, after 30 days on Win10 after having upgraded from Win7, your old Win7 licence key becomes irrevocably associated with your win10 installation, so no longer useable on Win7.
So yes you can do a Win7 clean install with your install disc whatever and when you enter up your licence key it will say invalid.0 -
and that "writing" you have read Please?
Microsoft cannot just revoke a licence , you paid for it , in the land of "lawyers" (the USA) they would get there %ss slapped in court!0 -
Indeed you have paid for the licence.
It is not being revoked.
MS will by you agreeing to it when you upgraded to Win10 to transfer the licence rights from your OS being either Win7/8 to Win10.
Edit
I'm sure that after 30 days you could do an image restore of your win7 installation and I'm sure it would work - for a time until MS decide during one of its 'checks' that maybe that the licence is now only valid on win 100
