To force you out, they would indeed need to go to court and enforce the notice to quit. A court will decide if it has been correctly served. Assuming they have done everything correctly, you would then get a court notice to quit. This should give you 7-28 days to leave. Even after this time, my understanding is that they would need to go back to court to appoint bailiffs to actually go and turf you out onto the street.

You need to attend any court hearing and explain your case.

You can stay on after the notice expires. Negotiate with the landlord..you mother for more time. If the solicitor does go to court to gain possession it can still take months for the bailiffs to appear at your door and remove you and the bailiff is the only one who can physically remove you. So...no hurry stay on as long as you can and get your "stuff" out of there before the court grants possession.

How much notice did you get?

Changing the locks won't help. It'll protect your "stuff" from unwanted visits by the landlord but I'm sure they (the bailiff) can break a lock.

First thing I would do is check the will.

Are you a Beneficiary? Did dad leave the house, a share of the house, or anything else, to you?

If Probate for your father's estate has been granted, his will is a public document.

Definitely pay to get a copy of the this will - I imagine that there will be a reason why your family kept it from you.
You may find that you father left a proviso for you to remain in the family home after his death. Alternately he may have left a sum of money for you to be able to get your own place sorted.

Also you need to sort out what benefits you are entitled to. Selling stuff on Ebay will not sustain you for ever. Contact the LA or Citizens Advice to see what help is out there for you.

You really should check the will. Also see if you are covered by legal aid to fight the eviction:

From what you've said it really isn't fair the way they are treating you, so if they aren't talking to you I would fight it as much as you can.

Who owns the property? Your mother? Does someone have POA which would allow them to get you out of the property or are these instructions coming from your mother?

I also think you should get a copy of your father's will. Find out why your siblings didn't want you to see it.

Have you actually been served any notice? You mention in one post that you have refused to sign for any registered post. Is that the method someone has used to serve notice or did you receive notice through regular 1st or 2nd class post?

You should speak with Shelter but I'm fairly certain that you won't have to leave by 1st August and if anyone turns up to physically remove you then that could be an illegal eviction.

How have you managed to acquire all of the Hoarded items if you have not worked and have no money? That does not make any sense.
Also if you are packing it all up to take with you where are you going to store it?


Plus where have these people come from who are giving you thousands to help you

This eviction notice sounds very odd.

Other than the one(s) they sent recorded that you did not sign for, did they send another just in normal post? (If they did, I bet they got proof of postage, so will be deemed as received).

If it was sent 1st July, then that does not sound sufficient. i thought it needed to be 2 months notice minimum?

I would definitely get a copy of your dad's will to check what it said.

I have lived there all my life. ( Sad to say I am a grown adult, ..)
30 years? 40? That could easily be a lot of stuff

Again - hardly relevant. OP may have spent life living with parents but that does not mean he has no friends!
