netgear wg111v2 wireless adaptor/vista/limited connectivity/

hello,
well to cut a long story short, my wireless adaptor isn't working on my new machine (with vista basic home edition installed)...It all worked fine on xp...so i downloaded a patch for the adaptor to work on vista. Still sitting at only limited connectivity...after much help from a kind of techie friend..we found out that a new i.p address isn't being assigned to the adaptor (when we go into cmd) and that that may be the problem. I s there a box or something i havent checked/unchecked on vista to allow this to happen? or anyone else with same problem who managed to suss it out...
thanku in advance

Vista doesn't yet appear to be compatible with Netgear software/drivers. Try uninstalling the Netgear software, then plugging in the adaptor and let Windows own software/drivers run it. This worked for me.

it's fixed!! :j:j.....after much swearing and huffing and puffing....i found out what id been doing wrong..and it was as simple as clicking a box!!...1 whole week ive been trying to fix it and all boils down to my "bits" ....bits as in
passphrase bits...originally id set it at 128 bits but obviously forgot that bit, until just now...changed to 128 bits and it worked!!...thanku for all your advice....apologies to my neighbours for the bad language and sorry to my kids..you can come out of hiding now :o:o
