I got the email from them also saying I have 30 days to cancel fee free. I only want to cancel my tv though as it's rubbish. can I do this or do I have to cancel everything?

I just phoned up options team to cancel/haggle and they confirmed even though i am mid contract i can leave penalty free.Their `best` offer was £30 plus line rental for infinity 2 so i told them to cancel there and then there are much better deals out there.0

Just a quick note, Mac keys for transfers were removed from service on the 20/6 so you won't need one to transfer, but it might be best to record with your old provider that you are leaving specifically due to the price changes, or you might get stung with early cancellation charges
Happy switching!:)0 -
When people criticise BT, or compare its value-for-money against other service providers, how many of them think about the FON service which one gets free with a BT broadband contract? FON provides millions of free Wi-Fi hot spots throughout the UK and worldwide. Which other internet access providers can provide anything like that? I'm not claiming that BT are perfect or the cheapest, they have their faults, but I tolerate and stick with BT because of the FON service - that is unless someone can tell me where/how else I can get such good and frequently available away-from-home free Wi-Fi coverage, especially in non-urban areas.0

Ok, who wants a bet at the next telecom provider to announce similar price rises? As like sheep, once one provider increases their prices, the rest tend to follow.

I have the email from BT with the 30 days cancellation at bottom. I have been with BT for over 20 years but in May I upgraded to BT fibre infinity, so can I cancel and leave without penalty and get my Mac code even though I've been with them for years?0

That's all well and good but we haggled about 2 months ago and none of it was logged so we carried on paying the same amount. When we queried this, BT looked into it but didn't call us back. Several calls and a long time later, they admitted it was true and said they would refund us. They did part of it, but still got it wrong. We were told we would have to pay for the 'free' box we were promised as the system wouldn't let us have it free and we then needed to reclaim it when we got the bill. We did so and have done this THREE times now so are currently £200 out of pocket. Despite all the customer service people saying they would do it and how sorry they are that this has delay has occurred, 2 months down the line we have nothing! We will not cancel our direct debit until we get this money back but I cannot begin to tell you how frustrating this experience has been. So my advice to you is, don't haggle, just leave.0

I just called BT to cancel and change Broadband/Phone provider due to the price increase.
The Customer Options team advisor checked my account and confirmed that although still in contract there would be no early termination charges.
Then said 'thank you is that all?'.
I said I was expecting to be offered some alternative before I sign up with Sky which is 61% cheaper (plus quidco!)
The advisor said that as I was still in contract they would not be offering anything.

What number did you call to cancel?0
-
I started a chat via the contact us options. Told them, they said the Customer Options team will see what they can do.
The chat rep can then either give you a call and then transfer you to the queue or can give you the 0800 number.
They are (not surprisingly) busy so either way will be at least a 10 minute wait.
I will go to sky for 12 months and pay £10+16.40 then maybe come back to bt to get new customer deals. My BT hike would have been 24.55+17.99.
No brainer for me really.
Edit: the number they gave me was 0800 800 1500
