  • The best of luck class2ldn.
It was def a 10% on his online application. It offered potentially 138k when we will be needing 90-100k. Zero debts also. So he should meet affordability(says the rookie me).
  • Good luck class2ldn. Yeah it was def 10% on my mans online app. It said he could get 138k but ideally looking for property betwwen 90-100k. We have zero debt so hope affordability is well within.
  • The customer advisor said I couldnt obtain 95% aip from online application - maybe you applied in branch or via a broker?
Maybe OP should call halifax and enquire with them. I didn't put full app to halifax as went with nationwide instead (for a better deal) full app now submitted and so far going through at 95%
  • ...sorry Cherry tree, no credit problems @ all but we do have a car loan outstanding but large salary too so affordability isn't a problem. call them tomorrow, you may be reassured

I've also made a full app today to Halifax...be interested to here how quick they get back to you..mines a new build so no physical property to survey as such, still have to pay a valuation fee mind.
  • I will call them today thanks guys, best of luck with you're applications!
Keep us informed and I will later. Thanks
  • Yep hubby just spoke to Halifax customer services. They confirmed the 10% deposit is only available online. When the man checked into his AIP roll number he said that he could put him through to the mortgage advisors and be more than likely be edgible for the 5% deposit. He said " the fact they have asked for a minimum of 10% is good news". But maybe he just means it good news in general as he passed AIP. He sounded alot more confident than we are. But all subject to full application. Who know's? All I know is my hubby was overed an account upgrade which a decent sized overdraft. He said no of course

Frankly, and with no disrespect intended towards anyone who works in or has anything to do with Customer Services, the opinion of a Customer Service Agent / Manager on mortgage policy and/or criteria is not something I would place any faith in.

    Have you contacted a broker?
  • I really wouldn't worry cherry tree - like I said ours is going through fine with nationwide (who are supposedly more difficult then halifax)... you was told the same as I was. Ignore the scare mongering on here.

Some people here thrive on it....
  • Aint contacted a broker as of yet. Seamly as we can't afford that extra money straight away.

TravelBugHappy. Every day is a school day for me and I'm pleased I joined. I have spend hours looking through hundreds of treads. I think the things I have pick up on is that alot of people jump straight on the backs of people seeking advice if their CR aren't up to scratch and can be patronizing. Vlearly some people on here have never had job loss or hardships. Sometimes its unavoidable.
I have already stated I do not defend my hubbys actions but he was desperate.
I just hope we can get sorted and if we can't for the dake of PDLs we will be devistated. Although many people get mortgages with Defaults and CCJs..as I've just read. Thanks
