what other benefits can myself and my fiance claim?

This forum is not the correct place to ask " what benefits can I claim?"
There are too many angry sad individuals that consider the benefit " purse " belongs to them and will jump on others and give totally incorrect advice as to what they " wish " the law shouls be ! Most havent paid a penny in tax in ( or very much ) years themselves either !
Oh, come on! She's asking because they're struggling to pay for long distance journeys to visit people, paying for food to eat on their journey and money to give to the people they stay with :rotfl:
I can't imagine the majority of those who get annoyed with such things haven't paid tax for years either and most advice is correct! If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Have you looked at travelling by Megabus as that can be very cheap if you really have to make these journeys. Obviously packed food too as buying on the road is pricey. Cut visits down - you dont say how often you go away but maybe visit twice a year and they visit you twice a year and perhaps skype each other regularly. Or, if not working, can you just move nearer?"'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

You'd be expected to fund holidays from your benefits.
In this context visits to family are recreational and not vital.
Sounds like you are fortunate to have people to stay with (even if they are charging you "keep" whilst you are there -which sounds odd if they are close family TBH) as it is cheaper than a hotel or B&B.
Rail and coach fares especially if booked well in advance tend to be much cheaper.
Don't forget you need to declare any holiday time to DWP and if deemed to not be job seeking/not available for work you may be sanctioned.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

hi all,
myself and my fiance are claiming income based JSA and my fiance also get DLA (he's been claiming DLA since he was 5 years old). I was wondering if there are any other benefits that we can claim as we are struggling to pay for trips to see my family and making sure that we can still afford to give whoever we are staying with money for food and to also make sure that we can have something to eat and drink on the way there and back. we are not sure if there are any other benefits that we can claim and how do we go about claiming them.
Not knowing all your circumstances but, as your partner claims DLA, is their health at a level where they could claim Employment Support Allowance?
If your partner receives middle or high rate care DLA and you spend more than 35 hours per week caring for your partner then you can claim carer's allowance.
It really depends on your circumstances and your partner's health as to whether these can be claimed.
Asides from benefits, have a look at the Old Style board on MSE as there are some great ideas for reducing grocery spends but still being able to eat well.

Don't worry I'm not slacking. I was just waiting for answer if there are benefits for people who travel long distances to visit family members.
