what other benefits can myself and my fiance claim?

hi all,
myself and my fiance are claiming income based JSA and my fiance also get DLA (he's been claiming DLA since he was 5 years old). I was wondering if there are any other benefits that we can claim as we are struggling to pay for trips to see my family and making sure that we can still afford to give whoever we are staying with money for food and to also make sure that we can have something to eat and drink on the way there and back. we are not sure if there are any other benefits that we can claim and how do we go about claiming them.

Depends on your circumstances.
Have you got children? Are you renting?0 -
Assuming you are not renting due to the 'whoever we are staying with' there may not be much more. Is there a possibility of living with your family if you are making lots of trips back? Moving closer?0

If you are struggling and there are no other benefits you are eligible for then maybe you shouldn't be making these trips if you can't afford to.
Can they not come to you instead?0 -
Bottled water is cheap in the supermarket when bought in a multipack (since buying this myself i've had my eyes opened on just how high the mark up is on single bottles) and make some sandwiches which will keep for a few days before you leave home- assuming you can put them in a fridge where you are staying. Couple bits of fruit and a cheap 6 pack of crisps- food there & back sorted.
I'm unsure that there are more benefits you can claim so you need to look at spending what you do get more wisely.0 -
Maybe you should not make/ cut down on the journeys until you are working and therefore have more money? You could take cheap food on the journey (value ham £1, value bread less than 50p I think. Sandwiches done...),or take none at all and drink water, if you insist on keep going. As for money for food while you are staying, surely you can just use part of your normal weekly food budget because you won't be at home for a full week? Just plan surrounding that, use part for the time you will be home and give the rest to whoever you are staying with as you won't need to be feeding yourself in two places at once.
What level DLA does you fianc! get?
Tbh, it's an unusual (wrong!) reason to want to find more benefits to claim so you've been lucky nobody has jumped on you yet!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Possibly. OP has been posting asking about cheap outfits for sisters wedding too so possibly genuine. Possibly not.If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Why you would expect there to be benefits for this?0

This forum is not the correct place to ask " what benefits can I claim?"
There are too many angry sad individuals that consider the benefit " purse " belongs to them and will jump on others and give totally incorrect advice as to what they " wish " the law shouls be ! Most havent paid a penny in tax in ( or very much ) years themselves either !Stuck on the carousel in Disneyland's Fantasyland
