Actually....... I have already been a little bit MSE -y already today.
I checked my bank account. Have fiddled with my budget spreadsheet. Decided which cc debt I am going to tackle first.
Then
I changed my Weight Watchers payment from monthly to 3 monthly saving me approx £60 over the three months. I changed from weekly meetings to doing it on-line. I decided that I didn't really need to pay a woman (a very very nice woman though) £16 a month to tell me I am a fat burger and to stop eating and do more exercise.
I am about to switch my gas off for 24 hours. It only heats my water in the summer, so I have figured 24 hours on and 24 hours off through August won't do us any harm at all. I might even make it stretch through September............
but this is Scotland and we might freeze...............:snow_laug:snow_laug:sFree by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Good Morning, Good Morning.

Yesterday was a good day :j
I did everything I promised myself I would do and a little bit more.
I went to the football with my lovely dad, we have a season ticket which he buys me every year (see? told you he is lovely) and he bought a raffle ticket thingy, which he won at half time and he gave the winnings to me. £100. (actually he is lovelier than a lovely thing).
Now, I know this is probably bad and not the way to become a debt free person but I am going to put that into my spendy budget. I don't know why, it just feels like the right place to put it. I hate being right down to the wire and have nothing for an emergency,so, this just make me less anxious.
I switched the gas off for 24 hours yesterday and am wondering if I could possibly get away with another? Through August 1 day on 2 days off??? I wonder what other people do? I bet they don't, I bet I'm the only idiot who does this kind of stuff.
I also got a NSD. :T:T
My first one for a very long time, I suspect. But, it was hard. Really hard. I once developed all these really good money habits and then things in my life went from bad to worse and I forgot everything I learned.
I am discovering that it's not going to be so easy to re-learn them. But I will. I will be a Debt Free Person one day........although fifty might be pushing it a bit

I'm glad you had a good day freeby.
What a lovely dad you have.
Don't be too hard on yourself.People aren't robots.Things happen in life and our good intentions go out the window. You had other priorities that pushed your hard won MSE habits away. It's so easy to fall back into the trap, what with credit being easy to get hold off as well.
Banks etc love it when we're in debt because they make more money.
But,you're back on the wagon again. :money:
It's maybe not going to be easy, but it'll get easier.
And remember all the good things in life that money can't buy.

Hi Fifty, thank you for re-starting your diary and I feel I need to follow in your footsteps.
An am also a returning old timer who has lost their MSE GPS for the last 3 years. I recently stumbled across my old debt tracking/money saving/money making spreadsheets and I was in awe of my old self.
I will be following your diary with interest.
LouBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Thank you LouiseJ :smileyhea
I keep having to check back here just to make sure I am not dreaming all this.
I loved this site and the people a few years back and I had forgotten how much until I came back, I had also forgotten how much it helps.
Thanks to my reincarnated spreadsheet and budgets I've been able to pay a couple of bills that I thought would have to wait a while. And I'm not afraid to log in and look at my bank balance.

And that, right there, is how you know you aren't back to square one - instead of just floundering, you've taken control and come back to the place that helped you before. Already back into good habits. You've got this.xxfreebyfifty wrote: »I loved this site and the people a few years back and I had forgotten how much until I came back, I had also forgotten how much it helps.

It's Monday.

I go back to work after a week off
Today's list:-
1. Get up
2. Go to work
3. Go to spin class
4. Do much housework
5. Go to bed.
It's a new list but familiar some how?????Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Actually, I'm quite happy to be going back to work. I quite like my job. It's only part-time which is good in many ways and not when it comes to the pay packet.
I bagged another NSD yesterday and this one was easier. Maybe I am getting into the swing of things again.
I am all organised. Had my breakfast, have my fruit, lunch is ready for the minute I walk back in the door. I have nothing to buy that I need.
So I am determined.
Today will be good MSE day
