Mon 27th July - What small DFW-style things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

    Morning DFW-Weekend-Warriors,

I was awoken early by a poorly OH whose new medication wasn't agreeing with her. So I guess that's me up for the day now.

We are both due at the dentist at 1:30pm. I don't mind dentists it's their bills that weaken my knees. :(

    Nillionaire Month Two:

    :grinheart Do Royal Mail Surveys.

:grinheart Continue de-cluttering and cleaning the kitchen. I need to finish all the low cupboards.

    :grinheart Do iSay surveys.

    :grinheart Check Quidco.

:grinheart Finish financial plan for August once I've seen the dentist.

    More later...

    9:25am

OH is feeling a bit better and so she should be able to make it to the dentist if I drop her at the door to the surgery. If we can both go today that would be ideal so we can plan our dental costs and we won't have to make two lots of trips. Looks like OH is going to need 'weaning' gradually onto these new, essential pills.

:grinheart Batch-cooked lentil and veg scraps(!) soup is out of the freezer for lunch. I will water down OH's portion.

:grinheart Walked to Sainsbury's and get £1 off a £1 bottle of milk through Shopitize. Returned home and went back out again when I realised I'd forgotten my Nectar card.

:grinheart Make crustless quiche to use up eggs and leftover sausages.

    :grinheart Make crumpets.

:grinheart Calculated whether Shopitize cheese deal in Tesco is cheaper than Aldi cheese. It is.

:grinheart Looked for wombled receipts outside Sainsbury's but unfortunately rain ha reduced them to a horrid soggy mess. Will try looking outside Tesco when I stop by there later.

:grinhear Dry carrier bag that got wet en route to Sainsbury's to re-use. 5p saved.

Good luck with your Devotions, Divas.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning Ally

Sorry to hear you've had an early start and that your OH is poorly. I wish you luck at the dentist.

It is very breezy here and looks more like an October day outside than late July.

2 days till OH and son go away for their mini holiday. Should have enough food to last us till then. Then my aim is to have a 3 day break from all spending. Payday is Friday so I have time now to plan out what to pay when etc.

I also plan to use the time they are away to do some decluttering. We have had so much work home from school that is sitting in piles waiting for me to process. It's always a tricky one with children's work because you want to save things but realistically 12 years of school work kept for whatever reason is a very bad idea. So I will be brave and strong and get ready the recycling bin :)
Still need to tackle my OH'S darned comic collection, which was tidied away to accommodate his parents last stay with us back in May and we've totally stalled on listing items for sale on eBay. So my evenings will be exciting :)

Right need to start getting ready for work. Am glad to know this truly is the last week ahead before a normal weekend. But not complaining as it's been a great month financially with all the parties work and extra shifts..

    Have a good day everyone.

Determined - hope you got your job application in ok!

You could keep a few items you really valued and photograph a few more that were less important. (I have a CD of photos of some derelict clothing that needed to be recycled but I wanted to hang on to!?)

Morning everyone, hope you're all okay on another dull and rainy day!

Ally, I hope your OH gets better soon. Plus, hate dentist prices so I'm going to make the use of being pregnant and not having to pay whilst I can. They are just so expensive. :(

Bob, do you have a comic loving OH as well then ? I have so many things that my OH can sell. His comics still living at his mums would be a start, as would his figures that he's collected but always stay in the box, or get hidden away in the drawer under the bed! Seems such a waste.

Hannah, have fun today! Seems like you have sorted your day out already. :D

I'm not feeling so well today. I seem to have developed a cough over the last few days and it seems to be getting worse, which is a pain. I can't really take much either because of pregnancy and my kidneys, so I think I'm just going to have to see it through!

    My list for today:
    * Ring mortgage company to arrange a meeting regarding mortgage for this house we are interested in.
    * ring housing company to ask a few questions.
    * find my maternity notes in my car and check what time my appointment is for tomorrow.
    * Wash clothes and hang out on the drier.
    * Tidy up living room. It's getting a bit messy and cluttered with paper work, toys and other bits and bobs.
    * Decide what to cook for dinner today and make a list of things I need to get for weekly shop.
    * Use apps to get free milk and free loaf of bread whilst I'm doing shopping.
    * Clean the kitchen quickly. - wash up, dry up etc.

My brain isn't working either so I'm sure there are more things that I need to out on my list! I'll add if I think of anymore.

    Have a great day :D

    Morning all :)
Thanks for the start Ally - hope your OH feels better soon and the dentist visit goes ok. I have to go soon

Good job you checked your banking Hannah - if you hadn't noticed that you had been charged twice they would have got away with it

Bob, my DH is going away for a week in August, and I intend to have a fiscal fast too. It is easy to avoid spending when there is only me, for some reason...

    OK, list for today:

Put washing that I did yesterday out on the line to finish off - it was damp on the airer, and I did not want to look at it! Make a mental note to keep an eye on the weather - it is blowing nicely atm :)Done

Wash kitchen floor as the dog had an accident in the night :(

Hoover rug and stair carpets as OH has brought the big heavy Dyson downstairs

    See to hens

HM meals from stores - we will have some of the huge quiche that I made yesterday for supper, the rest will do for lunches :) It is fine for my diet, so long as I only have salad with it, and portions are not too big (something small with a big salad seems to work for me :))

Swap some items round in my sales unit - dire this month again :(

Take too-big jeans to the charity shop :T

    Check banks

Pick any produce that is ready in the garden, and check if the big pots need any water (despite rain)

Check the shallots harvested last week for any signs of mould or going off. Hang them up in the porch, as they are currently just laid out in the wood store. I will use the bigger ones instead of onions (I don't grow those because I don't have much space and they are pretty cheap to buy as a rule) and pickle the little ones.

Do any surveys that are available

Get meat out of freezer to make a large casserole in my new slow cooker :)

Should be a NSD again - doing quite well with those at the moment :)

Hope everyone has a good day :)
