FareDepot refund process?

Hi all, I'm sure this is the wrong board but wasn't sure where else to post!
I booked a return flight from the USA, but wasn't allowed entry into the country, so couldn't use it.
I messaged FareDepot for a refund (£250, a lot of money as I just finished college!) and they gave me a form to fill in.
They require my bank name, card number, expiration date, ccv, my name and my address; they also need to see the front and back of my credit card, as well as my driver's license or passport.
I feel like they're requesting too much information, they could literally buy anything online simply with my card number, exp. date and CCV. The form isn't even a secure form, it's literally just something to email them.
What should I do? I feel like I can't turn my nose up at £250 (that's a month's income ATM), but at the same time it seems too risky and I don't want to lose more money.

Is £250 the amount you paid or the amount they're offering to refund?
Just asking as most airlines (on basic seat prices anyway) are quite restrictive and will only refund the tax portion.
Also, they seem to be a US company. Its possible that they may require that information to process refunds or they may not. Perhaps someone on here will have used them before and know one way or another but I wouldn't hold my breath. You keep using that word. Yeah they took some off the price, £250.50 is what I'll get after all deductibles.0 -
If they want to steal your details then they would have already done it when they took the payment in the first place, did you ever think about that?
They are asking for the same info again, money laundering rules are just as big in the US.0 -
You're getting a refund for being refused entry to the US? Surely that's not FareDepot's issue unless it's their mistake which caused your refusal?Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

I know it's my fault I was refused entry, which is why I'm only getting $500 of the $750 flight back... Just wanted to check the process they were making me go through was normal and they weren't stealing my card or identity lol, no need to be rude :money:0 -
I emailed asking "Why do I have to give all my card details, including full number, CCV and expiration date? This is a security risk, surely?"
They said "We need to have the authorization form with the details for future security reasons. Hence we would request you to fill the form & e-mail it back or fax it over to us so that we can process the reservation."
I'm so scared!0 -
If a credit card is cancelled due to security reasons (If for example, you think that the details may have been compromised), the card issuer will supply a new card which will be on the same account as the cancelled one.
When this happens, the old details will still be accepted by the card issuer for the purposes of a refund but no new payments will be authorised from that cancelled card.
There is nothing to stop you giving your card details to Faredepot then contacting your card issuer to voice your concerns and ask if they would cancel the card and issue a new one.0 -

Didn't you give them these details when your purchased the ticket?0 -

The card details would have been given but I would be very surprised to find that a photocopy of both sides of the card were required as well as the OP's bank name and a copy of their passport or driving licence.
IMO, that is far too much information especially as the refund will be getting paid back to the account from which it was originally debited from.0 -

Betfair recently asked me to prove my identity by providing similar documentation.
I guess it's to confirm that you have physical access to the card; and they want government issued documentation so that they can say they took all reasonable steps to verity your identity.
Let's not forget the OP is someone who has been refused entry to the US and that FareDepot is a US company. I guess their rules apply.0
