No where in the link does it say anything about being entitled to non-payment. It's not clear either that he has broken any of the rules in there.

Basically if he didnt give the legal requirement to give 14 days cooling off period in writing he has broken the regs. Trading standards are hot on this and will take action or tell him to get his act together and forget payment in this case or face court action.

I used to be in a trade as this is exactly what happened to someone i know, this is how i found out about the regs and changed my business practices to comply.

Even though these regs are a few years old now many are completely unaware of them.

It should be a sticky at the top of this sub forum tbh.

The OP hasn't said anthying about a cooling off period period so I don't see what relevance it has. They haven't said 'I tried to cancel after 10 days and have the work undone but was refused'. Besides urgent repairs and maintenance are not covered, and it would be absurd if they were, you can't 'return' repairs to a boiler in the way you could with someone selling an item on the doorstep.

At the end of the day the OP has benefitted from the traders disorganisation/mistake or whatever circumstances have prevented him from asking for the money sooner. He deserves to be paid and the OP should be grateful for basically having had interest free credit.
