NUS extra card

I'm going into my 2nd year and have had an email asking me to renew my NUS extra card. Just a tip for Freshers, NUS cards aren't handed out anymore you have to pay £10 for a card if you want one. Ours weren't compulsory but I got one anyway.
I just saved queuing for the photo booth and about £5 on photos using the NUS website to upload my own picture (can be webcam or normal diggy pic) and carrying round my £10 (& queuing!) by paying online.
My NUS extra card definately was worth the money in the first year, especially on cinema tickets.

The NUS Extra card is certainly worth it if you use the discounts. Take alook at the discounts first on the website. Alot of estamblishments will give a disocunt with a regular NUS card instead of the NUS Extra card.
The NUS Extra card is also available for free with a LloydsTSB student account.

The only place I ever use student discount is at HMV, cinemas and Macdonalds and I've never had any problems using a standard student card. I know my girlfriend has had some issues with some clothes shops saying they will only take NUS extra but just letting you know if you only use it for the things I did it might be worth saving your money.0

I love my student card. I'm off to Croatia soon so hope to use the ISIC part of the card to get some overseas discounts. The student card and my student railcard have saved me a small fortune over the last year.0

I tried to use my uni card in shops and some of them are so picky. I think it depends it on the shop assistant. I'm disappointed that we have to pay £10 but I have definately earned that back.0

in fact most big branch named NUS discounts will generally give the discount with a regular student card.
you just have to be willing to say "no discount, no business" and see if they will manually give you discount.:A Boots Tart :A0
