Adding your registers together to form a pseudo Standard meter is known as a ‘totaliser’, it’s not available on all EC7 meters and even when it is, it’s not offered by all suppliers. I suspect smaller suppliers are the least likely to support totalisers.
All suppliers have a responsibility to tell their customers if they can save money by swapping from an time of use tariff (like EC7) to a standard meter. This should be done via the suppliers cheapest deal message shown in the right hand column on page 2 of each bill.
Suppliers aren't stupid, those who offer free meter exchanges do so under T&C’s that state you have to pay for the work if you leave before a set amount of time has passed.0 -
Suppliers never just use the "total or T " figures when they bill single rate tariff on an eco 7 meter. They use the day and night figures, so anyone imputing their own reads will still be faced with 2 readings to imput online or on meter readers cards. BG (plus Sainsburys Energy ). , EDF and Eon will bill single rate on an eco 7 meter.Thank you for the tip, DME, ( yes, it's one of those new type meters ) ...Sounds like an ~Excellent idea ! :j ..... However, I doubt they will do that, simply because...well, that's a rather unofficial idea..... and electricity companies, even Ovo, nice as they might seem ! are well steeped in officialdom .......:(
I'll ask 'em, anyway, mind you ! :cool:0 -

I was on fixed rate (standard) with OVO for nearly 2 years but when it was time for renewal - they wanted me to swap to Eco 7 - their rates were daylight robbery. I think 14p and 7p. I switched to Scottish power Eco 7 - 12 and 5.6
I have just moved my gas from OVO as well

When I was on a PPM (old rental accommodation), the rates for my region were 18p and 9p, with a SC of 21p/day! And those were the cheapest available! :rotfl:0
