Remove Very.co.uk credit mark?

Hi, first post here as i need some help. I have had a very.co.uk account for a few years, and have purchased a number of items that i have always paid on time. I usually utilize the 'Take 3' option. Well recently I missed a payment, my reason was that I used to get a text reminder from them but I changed my phone number and forgot to update the details on my account.
Once i realised what had happened I paid it off so now my balance is zero.

So my question is, has anyone successfully got very to remove the credit mark? How did you go about it?

My credit score was 'Good' but has dropped to 'Fair' on experian. I was planning on applying for a mortgage in the next 6 months so any chance of getting it removed would help.

Thanks

First of all don't worry about the credit score. It's meaningless and only there for the CRA to sell to you and make money off you.

Next, only Very can remove their entry from your credit history. They could remove it as a courtesy to preserve customer relations, try asking them. If it's wrong you can complain to the CRA who will amend it if you are correct. Otherwise you failed to pay on time and the credit history will reflect that. The light at the end of the tunnel is that just once doesn't really impact your credit history especially if all entries before and after are up to date. A lender will just assume you went through a temporary bad patch and recovered.
  • Quick update. I contacted very.co.uk and they refused to do anything about the credit marks. I thought maybe because i had used them a number of times and never missed a payment they might but still i was not surprised. Anyway, do you think i should use them a couple more times to get some more good transactions with that particular credit company or will it not make a difference if i close my account now?

Definitely not. Close the account immediately and tell them in no uncertain terms why you're doing so. Then brief against them at every opportunity. This board is chock full of people complaining about Very. They should be avoided at all costs.

Your case is, sadly, another example of the "not fit for purpose" credit reporting industry. That a single low value transaction paid a little bit late after a genuine mistake of the type you mentioned, might affect your ability to obtain credit, is outrageous. The industry is in need of root and branch reform.

You missed a payment regardless of the circumstances so the information they have recorded is an accurate reflection of how the account was managed. I personally have a very account and I alao get notification of my statements by email.

You should ditch the Very account. Regardless of the "late" payment mentioned in the current thread, there are many stories on this board of Very causing credit reporting difficulties when the customer has done nothing wrong at all.

Most of them are the people have failed to read the terms and conditions generally relating to BNPL. The best thing anyone should do regardless of the company is to just set up a DD for the minimum payment.

had them for years, never once had an issue but I do pay ontime
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I think they are great for BNYPL deals, can put some cash away into my savings for a little extra interest then pay in full before the due date.

I also get email reminders as well as text messages which I think is better than a lot of card provider reminder services.
All that glitters is not gold.

My wife has a very account and logs in same day every month to make her payment. Last month when she logged it her account showed no payment due......

She logged in a few days later and it then showed the payment due, which she paid, however her credit file shows a late payment.....

I've just emailed them complaining of this and await a reply, although I'm not hopeful...

Id 'very' much like her to tell the to shove it if they dont play ball....this one as far as we are concerned is there fault.

    ....

What do you think Very have done wrong? The OP paid late and Very reported it. What exactly are you expecting the OP to say when they 'brief against them at every opportunity'. Ooo you'd better avoid Very - they report factual information to credit agencies.

Yes lots of people have problems with Very. All of which could be avoided. In most cases by opening and reading their post.
