I wouldn't worry about it, a lot of people I know have nicknames on Facebook - or change their surname. I doubt Facebook would care about the name you put as long as it's not offensive!0

A friend of mine has a FB account in the name of his cat!!!0

seems to be a lot of this on the local groups i am a member of in cornwall , i never see anything myself just see others posting asking not to post stuff like that incase kids see it"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

Report it and if FB void your account, just email back saying you have no name because your deciding what it will be and are in the process of changing it because you are having a personality crisis. Or that you have a job where your identity needs to be protected for the safety of both you and your family or just say that 'this is my real name, how dare you tell me otherwise'!
Guess you have to decide which matters more; your morals and ethics or your Facebook account...0 -
Submitted twice instead of edit - deleted this one, sorry.0

Different situation I know but still a worrying story: A former colleague telephoned anonymously about potentially serious worries over neighbours' children. Number withheld and gave no name although concerns were genuine. Social services received the report from NSPCC and called in the police.
The police allegedly gave the parents the supposed to be withheld telephone number, said the call was from a male and the repercussions were frightening. Drugs were involved and it was upsetting for my colleague's family. Never thought NSPCC, Social Services or police were allowed to give out this information. No one ever warned the person that his identity would be divulged. Not Facebook but a worrying situation just the same.0 -
The Police wouldn't do that ^^, they don't even go around on the same day, to speak to the person who made the complaint, in order to avoid this situation. The neighbour guessed who it was, plain and simple. Chances are, when being spoken to, they said "it's that b*tch next door" and the officer said "no", instead of diverting the question.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thanks Strider590. It was a while ago now and, at the time, we were quite shocked at work to hear his experience. Your reply is reassuring.0

This might be of interest to anyone using a name other than their own on FB.
