Consequences for reporting a pornographic post on Facebook?

For personal reasons, I don't use my full name on Facebook (it's basically a shortened version that doesn't look massively obviously fake but you would probably suspect it was).
Today, someone had posted a very explicit pornographic post in one of the groups I'm a member of - It included a video which I didn't watch but the image I could see was extremely graphic and it was clear that this was posted to that group with the intention of it being offensive, not because the poster thought we might enjoy it. I immediately clicked on report it to Facebook (which I've never done before) but then realised that that might cause them to look at my name and block me from Facebook for that - so I've cancelled my reporting of the post.
Does anyone know if that is what they do? Do I need to avoid reporting any offensive posts so that I don't get blocked? And do Facebook not automatically check posts? The image was wall to wall flesh coloured and I thought that was automatically flagged up as nudity?

No, reporting a post / comment / photo on FB does not show the other party who reported it.
Yes report any content you think will be offensive to the you or others.
I think Facebook would find it hard to police millions of photos, comments and statuses a day. They rely on the public to report anything that shouldn't be on there.0 -
Sorry I don't think I was clear in my original post - I didn't think Facebook would tell the other poster that it was me who reported them but I thought that it would bring me to the attention of Facebook and they then may decide to investigate me/ask me for proof of my name and subsequently block me from accessing my account.
Re: the pornographic content, I didn't think a Facebook employee would personally read every message obviously but I was under the impression that there were technologies that could pick up/filter particular words and also flag up photos that potentially contained a lot of nudity due to the colours within the image etc so I wondered how this had got through - but maybe they don't use technology like that?0 -
So are you saying that you're on FB under a false ID that breaches their conditions of use? If so then you might well be better not to report the offensive post as if they do investigate you that could well end in a ban. Could you PM someone else in the group and ask them to report it?0

They wont do anything against you for reporting it. Recently reported someone from posting bestiality content on one car related Fb group i follow the response from Fb was a bit lackluster I must basically saying that the person had already removed the content.0

you could always set up another false account, and report them using that one?
I do not think think the flesh filter ever took off due to loads of legit and illegit stuff having pink, brown and yellow tones in it. On the other side, i would put money on it there are some green marshan !!!!!! parodies out there. I have not google it, but bet there are 'XXX-files' with a Mulder and Scully type characters0 -
Just report it I can't imagine you will get banned just tell them its the name you go by eg nickname.0

Facebook rely on the community to report things they need people like you to report it to bring it to their attention.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

It seems that a lot of responses are missing the point that the OP isn't worried about being banned for reporting offensive content, but about the subsequent consequences if FB investigate her false identity. The sensible option would be to change her username to be her real name (which the vast majority people seem to manage to live with without any great difficulty) and then there's no issue for FB to look into.0

Doing anything that might capture their attention is potentially increasing the chance they'll notice your name isn't your real name. How much so is pretty hard to say, so you'll have to weigh it up by how much of a problem loosing your facebook account would be?
Personally, I don't agree with this part of the terms and conditions (and many others), so I'm not a facebook user. It's a bit of a step on from the original question, but it's worth considering, if the terms and conditions don't match your wants, perhaps being on there isn't a good thing.0 -
Don't change your name to your real one...FB don't really care what you call yourself, even though their T&C's state different. They make half hearted attempts to have real names posted, more for their own credence than anything else.
In fact I know many people who don't use their real names on FB. Their friends know who they are and that's all that is important.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
