Argos HD Ready SCAM

Hi everyone this is my first post but its a very imporant one too.
I purchased a SAMSUNG 19" LCD TV, model "SM940MW" from Argos 13 Months ago. In the 2 catalougues prior to the current one the product was advertised as a High Definition Ready.
I carried out some research from Samsung and found out to my knowledge that it really was not. So after phoning trading standards I was informed that Argos was in breach of SALE OF GOODS ACT 1979. And I was entitled to get my money back or be able to use the credited amount towards another product.
So since then I contacted Argos customer services making a complain quoting the act, and informed them that they sold me the product under faulse advertising And have been able to get money back to use on another product.
You will get the odd member of staff arguing that the product is High definition, But dont be fooled. Becuase Samsung has not placed a High Def. Ready Logo any where on the packaging nor mentioned it on the website.
If they still argue it is then just refer to the new catalogue, because it states that the product is not High Def.
The Product Catalougue number is 529/1883
As far as I know this model was also being sold by PC WORLD too. and all over the Internet.
Very good considering ive used it for 13 months.
But please remember to be able to get your money you need to have proof that you purchased this product before the 28th July 2007, under the old specification Details.
Proof of purchase
Many places are still advertising the product as HD ready so you can try your luck elsewhere if you did not buy it from argos.:A

When you say "SCAM"...do you mean "mistake"...?0

I wonder how much the catalogue layout artists and web monkeys get paid, when you hire humans, inevitably they make mistakes.0

argos cat's are always full of mistakes
long as they help fix it whats the problem?0 -
Says it HD ready on the Samsung website , and it includes a DVI socket which would say to me its high definition ? Have you tried plugging an XBOX 360 or DVD player with a high-def output into it and setting them to 1080i to see if you get a viewable picture ?
I've Googled it and its for sale in at least 10 different UK online stores and they all say its HD Ready , surely if it wasnt then there be more complaints and the listed specification would be changed ASAP ?

Samsung site link above says

Its not a scam at all, and even if it isnt HD, its just a mistake.
Think you need to get down of your high horse on this one. There are many mistakes in every catalogue and there is usually a disclaimer at the back of each catalogue.
Dont know where youve got the information off the "samsung" website as two of us here have clearly seen on the samsung website that it is HD ready
Think you have a bit of egg on your face here.0 -
Anyway, the bottom line is that Argos have behaved well, and the OP has had the use of a TV for two years for nothing.0

Well I purchased the Item, and on its manuals at the time of purchase never stated it being HD Ready. or mention the words HD
Also the fact is if it is HD Ready, Why were samsung not placing the logo or any details relating HD on its packaging. And have only posted this the website.
Confusion... hmmmmm, But I still managed to get my money back.0 -
If it has 720 pixels or more vertically it is HD-ready - whether it has a logo or not.
The logo was probably not placed on it because this was before the whole HD craze took off.
Almost every decent LCD TV is technically HD-ready as their native resolution is usually 1366x768 (with minor variations on some models). Those made before the HD craze wont have the logo.
My dads Samsung 32" LCD TV bought about 5 years ago is not marked HD ready ... But it is. Because of the simple fact that it will accept and display any 720p video.0 -
I have now got a official come back.
I just got on to the phone to Samsung UK. They have told me that the product is not officially HD Ready. And Also they are advertising the product as HDTV Ready, different to HD Ready. they stated because it has no HDMI conections the sound is analougue, the components that0
