Oh Kirsty what a pain in the backside.
I think if it were me, at the moment, I'd go for the very cheapest option. Do you have a local forum where you can look for freebies? A washer dryer is the sort of thing that people may decide to upgrade long before the usefulness of the item has run out, same with a fridge freezer.
When I set up my business I spent about £50 on a kitchen fridge which has lasted to this day (3 years) its massive with upright whole freezer side, & large fridge side. I got that from a 2nd hand appliances place on the high street and they even delivered.
Or even going a step further, I know it isnt value per say, but could you just use the laundarette for a time? I really believe now in making do when things go wrong.
But I appreciate not everyone likes to like like Steptoe And Son like me, so if not I'd still look at Freecylcle/local forum for inspiration.
All the best

Hi Bob,
I did use the launderette but I'm finding it adds up quite quickly, and because of the hours I work there is only 1 day a week I can get there, and only time to do 1 load so the washing is mounting!
I have put a wanted advert on the local freebie and buy/sell pages so I keep bumping those and hoping it will pay off!
On the upside I've just checked my topcashback and have just under £35 ready to be paid out so I've requested it and will pay it off very when it arrivesthat has cheered me up. Every little helps and all that jazz!
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭0 -
Forgot to say I also managed an additional payment of £50 off the smaller barclaycard balance this morning, so that has come down slightly :TLet’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭0

You also really need to pay attention to where your money goes - I was a fan of diet coke and normally bought a bottle every day/every other day - £1.25 here, £1.25 there - which seems nothing really! That's about £10 a week! So that habit stopped and I may treat myself to 8 cans of own brand for £1.50!
Me too! almost a bottle a day at work! This week I've made a 55p 2litre of supermarket diet lemonade last 4 days. Big difference from the £6 a week I was spending (I only bought p3psi or c0ke when it was on offer for £1).kirtsypoos wrote: »Forgot to say I also managed an additional payment of £50 off the smaller barclaycard balance this morning, so that has come down slightly :T

Got home and went through my bits and pieces and realised I could spare another £70 if I eat out of the freezer for the next 2 weeks, checked the freezer and I'm pretty sure I have enough to scrape by so I paid £77.41 off my very account!! still small steps, but seeing the round number made me feel better! :TLet’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭0

Kirsty you are doing great with all your extra payments!
Thanks Bob!
I listed a few things on ebay also, so hopefully that will bring in a few pennies.
Paying extra little bits is feeling quite addictive at the momentLet’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭0 -
Hi
Read through your diary - you are doing very well.
I am the same - I have been told that I need to start a family sooner rather than later - not been given a deadline or anything but considering i'm single its a bit disheartening to know that I may loose out on children, as how do I say to a potential suitor "I need this to work, as I need to have children asap!" They will run a mile!
I will be following your diary with interest - loving the extra payments - you will be debt-free before you know it!

Thanks Myteeduck,
Sorry to hear you've had that news too - it was a horrible time for me when they first told me (I do have a partner but he was pretty set on not having kids) it was going to have to be a case of ending my relationship and potentially still not having them because of the timeline. I'm still not 100% sure we will end up having a family together but if I can get my debt right down I know it would be a load off both of our minds. Good luck with everything, and I'll keep you updated on here about my journey! xLet’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭0 -

Totally agree. I forget if I mentioned it to you but I am loving the Payment a Day challenge at the moment. It has given me such a boost to try & find even £1 a day to knock off the numbers." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
