Congratulations kirstypoos, that's such lovely news, I'm so pleased for you! Hope you are feeling better in yourself soon too, sounds like you've had a week full of ups and downs! Xx

  • Hi Kirsty,

It has been a while since I logged in, but I'm glad I have - what brilliant news! :lovethoug:heart::j:happylove

I have a cousin who was TTC and really struggling - she went on a 6 week round the world holiday with her husband and came back pregnant. I'm convinced that all the stress hormones have an effect on fertility.

Here's to you, OH & your baby. :T

Will you still be going to NZ?

Hi PB - Thank you :)

We will still be going to NZ - we fly when I am 14.5 weeks so Doc said all should be well as long as I take on enough fluids and rest well.

I'm on countdown to our early scan which is next Saturday - fingers crossed all is well :)

  • I'm sure it will be! :)

Also, I forgot to mention - BioOil is recommended by all the mums I know for stretch marks. You can often get two large bottles online from Boots for £20 (but only online, so keep your peepers peeled!) or COSTCO sometimes have good offers if you have one nearby and have membership. xxx

I've been looking at stretchmark creams/oils the past few days and bio oil has come up more than once so I'm keeping my eyes open! Didn't know that about boots online though, will definitely keep that one in mind! x

Morning sickness (or as it will be known from here on in, everytime I eat sickness) has well and truly kicked in. I can be desperate for a certain food but as soon as I eat it, it's a countdown until I'm sick :( I'm ashamed to admit I actually had a roast dinner for breakfast on Saturday :o - it was the only thing I felt would stay down....it didn't!!

Don't worry about it - it will be a learning curve, like everything else. If you can keep it down - or think you can - go for it! As someone who had a friend with Hyperemesis gravidarum while pregnant, anything that gets you through it a win and don't feel ashamed of that!

Yup to the BioOil...BTW it's also brilliant on your face. I used to work with a woman in her 50s who had the *best* skin I have *ever* seen for someone of her age (think just a few tiny crows feet showing) and she said she applied BioOil to her face before going to bed a few times a week (preferably before washing her hair in case it got in her hairline) and swears that it was the secret to her youthful looking skin. (The rest of us who worked with her were all in our 20s, exchanged the look and ordered a bottle that night!)

P.S. I'm (half) thinking of starting a new DFW thread but am a bit reticent. Yay or nay? x

Another vote for Bio oil. Home bargains I found cheapest not sure if you have one local.

As for morning (all day) sickness eat what you fancy. If its coming back anyway might as well have enjoyed eating it ;) I lived on lucozade :o How unhealthy :rotfl:
  • Congratulations, kirsty! :j :T :j

Good luck for the road ahead and I hope the sickness abates soon. Don't worry about stretch marks — no one will notice them as much as you and they're the footprints left on your journey. Embrace them! (And I say that as someone who has hundreds of stretch marks and scars...) Very happy for you :)

Go for it PB - always nice to start afresh with a new diary - like clearing out the cobwebs :) I'm definitely eating whatever I fancy at the moment as either way it doesn't last long so whatever the baby wants, the baby gets ;)

Ooooh thanks Hidden, we've just had a new homebargains open up about 1.5 miles away and it is MAHOOOSIVE! I've been looking for an excuse to go back there and you just gave me a great one :o

Gosh thanks for reading it all jabbythistle - it's a bit of a marathon these days. I keep wondering whether I should start a new diary but I'm very fond of this one.... decisions decisions!

Thank you ABA - you're right - I've got a lot of stretchmarks and scars that no one else seems to notice, even OH! but also feel like a flashing beacon to me...

I went back to work following my week off sick today - I managed half a day then came home and slept for 3.5 hours! I don't honestly think I was ready to go back but the Director goes on holiday on Wednesday and we can't both be off or things will go mental. I have been doing work whilst at home anyway so I'm not quite as far behind as I expected but I'm also definitely not firing on all cylinders.

OH splurged yesterday and bought me a cooling pillow (one of those JML things from the adverts) which was £10 but worth EVERY penny - I've been boiling but it really helped me sleep last night, and during my nap this afternoon. Long may it continue.

Still on countdown to the scan. Saturday really can't come quick enough!
