Lots of different opinions
. Thanks all, yes you're right I only use it for browsing (comper) and looking at pictures of cats on Facebook-nothing too taxing. I think I'll stick with it for now.
Wise choice, stick with what's stable for now.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Am I right in thinking that Windows 10 is out soon? Is it worth hanging on and seeing what that's like?
Rollout start 29th July, but don't expect machines loaded with 10 in the shops for a few weeks. I'd hold on so you get a machine pre-loaded with 10 and on the recovery partition.
I've been using preview Windows 10 on on old HP laptop and they've corrected all of the flaws in 8.1 while still giving access to App Store etc.0 -
If your objection to Windows 8 is just the GUI, install Classic Shell, to get the Windows 7 feel.0

Judging by the OP's questions alone, I'm guessing he doesn't know much about computing and therefore uses his laptop for word documents, internet browsing, maybe some music and games?
I am fairly confident there won't be a bug in Windows 10 that stops the OP doing any of the above and if there was, it would be sorted in a couple of days.
Care to comment on the W10 bugs surfacing ? Plenty on the forum here.
The silence is deafening.
Are you busy with Muppet Show commitments ?Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
If it is HP don't bother upgrading to Windows 10... Seems there is a problem affecting laptops and windows 10 and HP are not planning to release a fix for it according to customer support!0

Oh, apologies I didn't respond, I've been on holiday since Windows 10 was released...
I've upgraded to Windows 10 without a single issue. As have a number of people I know. I've not had chance to look through the issues people have reported, but a number seem to be issues with software/hardware since upgrading, of which most can probably be fixed by a driver/software update.
If you weren't already aware, far less people install something on a computer, go onto the internet and say it's working fine. Only the people with issues post about it not working.
The way you talk about Windows 10, anyone would think we're back in December 1999 worrying about the millennium bug! :beer:0 -
