Why do people spray deodorant round in public changing rooms?

Is it just me who finds it really unpleasant when someone uses spray deodorant in the gym changing rooms? And when I say really unpleasant, I mean I feel I'm struggling to breathe, overcome by the smell, having to fight down a cough.

It's happened a couple of times recently and it really seems to take the whole changing room over for a few minutes, I can't escape it.

Are they spraying it at you?

Is someone trying to tell you something??? :D:D:D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Well i'm presuming theres no windows open and theres a lot of people that have been in and out before you.

Maybe its just the lingering smell of everyone elses deodorant.

Nope, it's when people actively spray their underarms with deodorant after taking a shower, you can see the haze spreading around them, and if I'm unfortunate enough to be there at the time, it 'gets' me. Takes a good five minutes before I feel I can breathe properly again. Really what I'd like to do is leave the room for those five minutes, but I'm usually in a state of undress ...

It is a small changing room. There are no windows.

I know it's partly just me, I don't use pressurised sprays at all, but do other people not realise the spray spreads out all over the place?

TBH I'm surprised they can breathe after they've sprayed, maybe I'm just more sensitive. :(

Well, people have the right to spray deodorant. As GBNI said, I'd rather that than BO!

I spray deodorant on myself after I've been to the gym, I don't want to stink when I leave the gym.

OK, so it's just me then!

Note that I have no problem with people using deodorant. I use it myself. I just don't surround myself in a cloud of chemicals.

no sue not just you i am exactly the same. and its not just deodorants, its hairsprays, perfume etc

some people feel they have to spray for ages!!! i too am left unable to breath and if i can will leave the room, as you say not always easy when you are undressed lol.

i think i am just sensitive to them tho as i have had to ban hubby from using spray ones in the same room as me

See, that's the thing! When I have in the past used spray deo, it's a quick squirt, under each arm, job done. This is an up / down, left / right, let's go round in circles one more time just in case one pore has been left unsprayed job.

Maybe I should tell them about moneysaving, and only using as much as you need. The spray that's not hitting their pits isn't doing anything useful, and I can explain their can would last twice as long if they focused ...
