OK thank you for the advice much helpful, I'm just worried he's going to fix it but not and make it worse. He does work for a reputable company as far as I know they don't employ not registered people As they are huge0

Gas engineers are only human and, even in the area of gas safety, there will always be differences of opinion.
A newly-qualified gas engineer will be less likely to ‘pass’ an installation with minor infringements whilst a more experienced guy will have the confidence to ignore a technicality which is of no practical significance in the particular installation which he is looking at.
And, being ‘only human’, some gas engineers will be more bloody-minded than others (especially if they are already having some kind of a bad day…).
I am not a gas fitter, by the way, but when I was working in the heating industry, I frequently had to try to mediate between conflicting opinions about various technical requirements.mad mocs - the pavement worrier0 -

teamtatty11 wrote: »Hello everyone I moved into my flat just a year ago there was a safety inspection done on my boiler when I moved in everything passed fine it has all been working fine as well.. It came round to the yearly inspection and this time failed because of a pipe that is installed incorrectly the exact thing that was wrote on the paper he left is.. " At risk, condense pipework after boiler condensate trap unsealed and prv pipework ran in plastic unsuitable pipework with tundish, electrical flex too close to gas pipework, filling loop in situ, condensate not installed to manufacturers instructions, incorrect pressure relief terminal " most of this is jargon to me he did explain what was wrong with the pipe and I understood that fine. I was informed that I can still use the boiler.. Although there is a sticker on it telling me not to and if I do Its illegal. So I am really Confused he also said that he left a carbon monoxide detector which he didn't and wrote he turned it off which he didn't. So where do I stand please
I'm just wondering how bad is this, should this have been spotted a year ago? I fell annoyed I have been left with an incorrectly installed boiler for a year
If I have posted this in the wrong bit I do apologise In advance.. If anybody can help that would be great.

As others said, also contact the landlord to resolve.0 -
Hi again everyone thanks for the replys .. so the repair is done ... he came was here about 5 mins he has fitted something he sawed a pipe off and then added a new thing on a pipe which is a see through round thing looks like a valve maybe i don't know packed up and went ... he hasn't turned the boiler on or checked it so i don't know if this is right or not . i have contacted my landlord and they are going to have somebody come and check it but that will be after the weekend .. I certainly don't dare turn it on lol .
Molerat - Gasway did the inspection they are a large company in the part of the country i live ... and fosters carried out the repair as they installed the boiler in the first place .
so all in all i am non the wiser today really i am now waiting on a call back from the landlord to see if gasway need to come and check it again which i am hoping they have to .0 -
Your landlord should provide you with a copy of the Gas Safety Certificate which I assume would come out of today's rectification. It is not in any landlord's interest to leave a tenant with an unsafe boiler. If you are still unhappy, then you could, for peace of mind, offer to pay for another independent gas inspection. Most landlords would just say 'go ahead' knowing that they have nothing to fear. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. the guy didn't do a gas safety check today though ... so im guessing someone will have to come out and check it before i use it ?0

The landlord should by now be extremely concerned that one of his properties has failed a gas safety check, and the fact that he is reacting quickly to the situation is a good sign. Are you without hot water?teamtatty11 wrote: »the guy didn't do a gas safety check today though ... so im guessing someone will have to come out and check it before i use it ?
Today’s quick repair of only one of the issues which were listed on the failure notice seems a bit questionable, and my own inclination would be to try to get the guy who failed the installation to come and check the repair. I would also try to get him to give you a thorough explanation of the issues which he is unhappy with.
Having said all that, I’m not sure that a landlord’s safety check is intended to include a full survey of the entire installation. My most recent safety check was done in February, and it is mostly concerned with correct combustion, absence of leaks and an effective exhaust flue. There is also a tick box labelled ‘Satisfactory Visual Inspection’.mad mocs - the pavement worrier0 -
Cheers for the reply i was thinking myself that it just don't seem right... well i am left without hot water yes as i said it has stickers saying not to use it but i was told i can but i haven't since he said bits were wrong . I don't want to at the moment as it just all seemed so unprofessional today and im not sure if it will go bang probably not but just to be safe.
I did contact gasway today who are the people who came and did the inspection and said it needed repairing and the bloke i spoke to wasn't very clued up and had to email somebody and said they would get back to me i haven't heard anything as of yet so im guessing i will have to wait untill after the weekend now . I have no idea about all this stuff its very complicated . It seems like nobody thinks its an issue and im not sure if its an issue or not . So its just the waiting game for now lol thanks for the help and advice i will post back as soon as i know anything0 -
It's not clear whether you are dealing directly with the landlord, or whether there is an agency involved, but take heart from the fact that the issue is being taken seriously, and that they are reacting promptly.mad mocs - the pavement worrier0
