Hello everyone I moved into my flat just a year ago there was a safety inspection done on my boiler when I moved in everything passed fine it has all been working fine as well.. It came round to the yearly inspection and this time failed because of a pipe that is installed incorrectly the exact thing that was wrote on the paper he left is.. " At risk, condense pipework after boiler condensate trap unsealed and prv pipework ran in plastic unsuitable pipework with tundish, electrical flex too close to gas pipework, filling loop in situ, condensate not installed to manufacturers instructions, incorrect pressure relief terminal " most of this is jargon to me he did explain what was wrong with the pipe and I understood that fine. I was informed that I can still use the boiler.. Although there is a sticker on it telling me not to and if I do Its illegal. So I am really Confused he also said that he left a carbon monoxide detector which he didn't and wrote he turned it off which he didn't. So where do I stand please
I'm just wondering how bad is this, should this have been spotted a year ago? I fell annoyed I have been left with an incorrectly installed boiler for a year
If I have posted this in the wrong bit I do apologise In advance.. If anybody can help that would be great.

In that case, you do not have a problem - the landlord does. Contact your Landlord and apprise him of the inspection report and ask him to arrange for an immediate repair/ or re-inspection. He has a legal obligation to provide you with a safe and working boiler.

Thank you for getting back to me thats much appreciated. I have contacted them and they have arranged for it to be sorted they are coming tomorrow. I was just wondering if the person who saw it a year ago should of spotted this As it sounds like it's not exactly easy to miss. and obviously being told I can use it and then there is a sticker saying not to and on the paperwork it says it's been turned off when it hasn't I didn't know if this was breaching any terms or something I have never dealt with boilers before0

Sfaik, the sticker is legally binding, and the engineer will have put it there for his own protection as much as yours. If the boiler has functioned satisfactorily for the year just gone, then it's hard to see why a few more days will change anything. But if you continue to use it, it will definitely be 'at your own risk'!teamtatty11 wrote: »Thank you for getting back to me thats much appreciated. I expect the landlord will respond by finding a different engineer and getting a second opinion.mad mocs - the pavement worrier0 -
You should have a copy of the Gas safety certificate from last year. You can submit both as evidence to have the first one struck off. More than likely he lost his Gas Safe registration long ago, if it was genuine in the first place.0

Thank you for the reply they were more what I was after, he basically told me if it was his own boiler he would still use it but told me I'm not meant to really so I can see that if it's been working for a year then what's a few more days just thought it was a little unprofessional,
Pincher thanks for that who would i submit these to please I'm not sure if he got struck off or not I never heard from him again. I never even thought I hope it's not him coming to fix it lol0 -

Thank you much appreciated, just realised that it is the same person who didn't notice this a year ago is coming tomorrow to fix it should I cancel this and ask for a different person to come?0

Ask to see his Gas Safe card.
Write the number down, preferably name, address and contact details. Time how fast he leaves.0
