New job in 2 months, can I use that salary when applying?

@Superhan, your mistake was not a deliberate intention to deceive.
If you were investigated you could evidence where the numbers have come from and give a plausible explanation that you have mistakenly entered all of the household income in your personal income box whilst leaving the 'other household income' box untouched.
The person who added 5k to income to obtain a credit card could potentially get away with it by claiming it was a mistake, but realistically if you start misstating your income on multiple different applications it starts to become much more difficult to claim they were just errors.
I also find it highly unlikely that entering an employment with a salary of £20k+ under 'current income' when you haven't actually started a job and are still currently claiming JSA would be accepted as an 'honest mistake'.
Oh, I agree entirely. As I said, I am not condoning lying, and I would absolutely be able to explain the error I made.
I was just adding some perspective that nobody did question it, so the OP may not be questioned if they do put their upcoming salary on the application - some of the other posts made it sound as though he would be instantly thrown in to jail.
It's up to the OP's morals and risk-aversity as to what he decides to put on there.0 -
Could always look for some temp work so you get some money, yes you have a job offer but anything can happen between now when you start.0

There's a very hefty gap between slightly mis-stating your salary and claiming that you have a decent one when you don't have one at all.
Anything could happen in the next few months that causes the job to fall through, payments to be missed, questions to be asked and the whole things turns incredibly complicated very quickly.0 -

2nd question...when you have one of these how long is it before you can get access to credit again?

OP I would forget about the credit card and put your efforts into finding a temporary job, or any job and then leave after a few weeks/months for you new job.
You don't want to start off in your adult life in debt and if you think that way you will get in trouble quickly.
As others have said, what if the job falls through? Then what are you going to do? Then you've wasted months of just waiting around slowly getting into debt.
Sign up with some job agencies, apply for jobs in shops/bars, anything to get some money rolling in. There's no shame in working in any job, after uni I worked in a cinema for a year before I got a job working in my chosen career, as well as lots of temporary jobs with agencies.0 -
OP, once you have a firm offer of a job in writing, take that into your bank and ask them what kind of loan they could offer you for the period before you get paid.
And if you are on JSA but have a job offer, the Jobcentre has a budget to pay for expenses that are necessary in order to take up the job. You would also probably be eligible for a loan from the Social Fund.0
