New job in 2 months, can I use that salary when applying?

in Credit cards
Hello everyone,
My fiancee and I are moving to a new rented flat in the coming months. Currently she works part time in retail and it is difficult for her to get a line of credit.
I have accepted an offer of employment starting in September and the first time I will be paid for working is in October. I have just graduated from university this summer and am therefore unemployed until I begin in a few months.
In order for us to survive the few months until I receive my salary, we need some form of credit to get us through that small period.
This brings me to my question. Is it cheeky/fraudulent/wrong/ok for me to apply for credit cards based on the fact that in 2 months time I will be earning £2X,000 a year and use that as my salary, or should I be putting unemployed and £0 a year since I am unemployed for the next two months?
Thanks,
Craig
TL;DR: is it wrong to apply for credit using a salary you will have in 1-2 months?

It would be fraudulent. Not worth it.0

I don't see the issue here as Craig did say that he starts the job in a just a couple of months - by the time the application has been processed and approved (hopefully!) and the card issued, that will be a lot closer anyway.
For a credit card with a low-ish limit, I think this is fine. If it was a mortgage application or something much bigger than I would be less inclined to think that it is a good idea.0 -

The issue is the question is "what is your income?" not "what is your income in a few months time?". Similarly if they are "unlucky" and are asked to prove their income they'd be asked to send their last 3 months of payslips which obviously the OP cannot do.
The sensible approach is to actually speak to the card issuer and check if they are happy for you to use your future income or not. Some may be, some wont be, but if you are following their instructions it isnt fraud.0 -

Highly unlikely that any checks would be done on a credit card application other than making sure the ID, address etc are valid.
This isn't fraud - that's a very emotive word - this is a slight bending of the truth. It's not as though he is putting down that he earns £100k whilst only getting JSA and there is no new job whatsoever in the offing.0 -
Whatever you do remain consistent read: National Hunter. I can't see you being given credit if you put down you're unemployed.0

You'll be asked for your employer's details. You don't have one yet!
You'll be asked either...
1. Start date, or
2. How long have you worked there?
Now what date/length of time will you enter in this field?
And remember, because application data is shared with fraud prevention agencies you'll have to put the same information on all future credit applications for the foreseeable future. How good is your memory?
It's not worth the risk. Borrow from family would be my suggestion.0 -

Sorry, but it is fraud. The OP would be deceiving for financial gain.
Do you really think that lying about your employment status and income is a "slight bending of the truth"?!0 -

Matchedbetter?
Do you know how to make money matched betting? Try that.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Rather than wasting the summer hanging around unemployed, why not get a temporary job until you start your permanent employment and earn some money that you can use instead of applying for credit?0

Ask the question in a different way and you've probably got your answer:
Is it wrong to lie on a credit application?0
