Motherboard or processor - which has failed

As you've recently worked inside the computer, I think it would be worthwhile to look inside for anything that may have been disturbed. Cables and connectors mainly, as well as confirming the processor is firmly seated. Also look for any objects that may short something out, like stray screw and such. Shorts can break stuff, but I've also known such object be removed and the computer start working again. Another thing to keep an eye out for is bulging or leaking capacitors - although that would be an age thing rather than something you may have caused. Anyway, the metal tops of the electrolytic ones should all be completely flat. However, I have known computers to work for some time with horrible looking capacitors, so although bad ones should be replaced, finding one is a possible rather than certain cause of the fault.0
