I'm trying to find a couple of pretty empire line style tops, but can't find them anywhere! I don't have much of a waist at the best of times so could do with something that cinches in over my bump :o

My best buy were maternity jeans from Mothercare, worn almost all the time.

Mothercare stop at sixe 16 :(

I like the idea of ordering to a shop to try on, i'll suggest that
Asos sounds good i will suggest that to.

She is really hesitant to buy online as with a fuller figure shops often vary so much

Just had another thought, Joules do nice empire line jersey tunics that I loved when I was pregnant as they were so soft (sometimes my skin felt so sensitive with all the stretching it was all I could bear to wear, I also lived in them for a couple of weeks post-birth), I just got a size bigger than normal and wore it with leggings. They go up to a size 20. :) They're quite pricey but you can quite often find voucher codes for money off and Joules has a decent resale value. :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

While I haven't had much luck with Mothercare sizes in store I have had a pair of their over the bump jeans in a size 20 (ordered online to collect in store) and they are very comfortable. I've found everything I've bought from Next, Debenhams and Asda to be true to size in a 20. Most of the shops do order online with free delivery to store so you haven't lost anything if you take stuff back (assuming it's easy enough for you to get to the store of course).

As a similar sized lady, she may find it better to hit the shops designed for bigger ladies. I have some Jeans from "Yours" that while not in a "maternity range" are designed in the exact same manner with the high stretchy fabric waist band. I am also getting lots of wear out of M&co dresses that are empire line that I already owned but were cut forgivingly.

I just tried on trousers and tops in 1-2 sizes bigger and guaged what didnt look rediculous and what would allow for some growing room. At 20 weeks now and the few purchases i have made seem to be lasting well.

Hope this helps & don't get discouraged!

I found maternity clothes expensive and difficult to find. In the end I bought bundles from ebay which saved me oodles of money. The rest I got from H&M and Red Herring at Debenhams.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
