iGO4 terrible car insurance

I found iGO4 car insurers on a comparison website. I foolishly took out car insurance without checking them. Quite an ordeal has followed.
They never answer the phone, ignore emails and use very dubious methods.
They ask clients to upload documents which is nigh on impossible, the website doesn't work and I kept receiving threats through email that my insurance could be invalid, even when after a week , many emails and much wasted time I finally managed to upload documents of an acceptable quality. I tried to cancel because I knew I had made a bad mistake and they were no company to be dealing with. By the time they esponded, it was too late.
This week I decided to pay the balance , cancel my DD and requested a receipt. Another 2 companies took the payment. No replies to emails again. 10 emails and many unanswered calls later, I got through to a dismissive rude person. I am still waiting for confirmation that I am still insured.
I implore anyone who is tempted to save a few quid. DON'T! It has cost me hours and lots of stress.

Make a formal complaint in writing, and then take it to the ombudsman or whatever its called this week.
I think it costs them if the complaint gets that far?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yes, I have complained to the Financial Service Ombudsman..and BBC WAtchdog. I can only hope others do to. There are countless complaints about them but nothing has been done.0

When you complain to the FOS they won't 'do anything' about the insurer. They are just there to ensure they are being fair to the customers. The most they will do is ask the insurer to reimburse you for wasted calls etc or compensate you for inconvenience.0

I complained about igo4 to the ombudsman because they wanted to charge me £159 because I received my no claim bonus letter very late and made the mistake of putting down EIGHT instead of NINE year NCB. Now the adjudicator said that
'In summarising, IGO4 had every right to apply the increase of £159.93 to your policy...' How charming of this adjudicator called *! I hope you don't come across him.
I don't remember saying the woman from igo4 was rude or impolite. What I was saying was that she was very forthright, saving that because of the LIVE RATE, she could not let me off with the increase. To me, her approach seemed to be well coached and that this money grabbing approach seemed to be systemic, a culture encouraged by the company.
Didn't Sheila Hancock got quoted £2000 for her renewal? At this rate, who is out there to protect us, the consumers!?0 -

Try to consumer action group. The more people know about their money grabbing culture, the better! I won't go near the same company next time. Once bitten, twice shy!0 -
In other words, you were in the wrong. All of the FOS decisions are freely available to view on line. You will see that they are very much on the consumers side if they feel that an insurer or broker has acted unfairly.
By the way, why is the adjudicators name relevant? Care to explain? All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
Price comparisons don't work very well for car insurance. If you buy a big consumer item, TV / washing machine etc. you can compare prices for the same model fairly readily.
Car insurance doesn't work like that. They can cut back on cover in a multitude of ways, cut customer service, go in cheap then hit you hard for alterations etc.
All of this is driven to some extent by the need to save a few quid to top the rankings in a comparison website.
You need to at least do your research and see what balance of service / price is acceptable to you.0
