Toilet Rolls/Tissues misleading information

Many supermarkets now show the cost per toilet roll. This information is misleading as the number of tissues in a roll of toilet rolls differs tremendously. It would be far more appropriate and fairer to show the cost per tissue. Andrex seems to have more individual tissues per roll than many other brands.

In Tesco they have unit pricing of per 100 sheets - disappointed to find Nicky (£1.00 for pk of 4) 25p. Other - brand names - on offer 9 for £3.50 - which on the face of it is not as good a 'buy - came out at a lower unit price!!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0

The comparison should be on cost per s**t (CPS)
If you are constipated then you get good VFM however it could be a very high CPS in the case of dysentryThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

With some rolls you only need half as many tissues per visit. The cheap stuff you might need half a dozen sheets per visit.
I go by weight. The heavier it is the better quality, the wider the sheet and the thicker the sheet. Unfortunately they don't price by weight.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Packaging normally states the number of sheets .
What do you do enter each sheet into a spreadsheet ??0 -
It's not just number of sheets though. You have to take into account the ply rating!0
-
It's simple, you calculate the cost based on the number of rolls x number of sheets per roll.
You get the cost per sheet.
You can easily figure out which pack is the best price.
I do when I have to buy bog roll0 -

One must also factor in the "shredder" rating, ie how much of your anus is going to be shredded during each swipe.
- Good CPS rating, but bad shredder rating.0 -
Oh my gad, this is crap0

Most loo rolls tell you the total area of either the individual roll or for the entire pack in m2This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I can't believe people actually worry about this sort of stuff. It's not rocket science to work out.0
