Amazon Are Not As Good as they used to be

I ordered a microchip cat flap last week on 15th July from Amazon. There was a pet online store that was selling the same one slightly cheaper but I thought that if I ordered it from Amazon I would get it quicker. Wrong. On looking today I see that my order has still not yet been despatched. The delivery estimate was between today and Friday.
I ordered a few other things yesterday and the delivery estimate is Monday to Thursday of next week. I know that I always go for the free supersaver delivery but even so it used to be that Amazon orders would arrive within a couple of days.
In fact I am about to cancel the electric toothbrush I have just ordered as it is £8 cheaper in Debenhams and guaranteed free delivery within 4 days.

Supersaver delivery always used to take up to a week for me. But occasionally 2-3 days. I think as they have so many Prime subscribers now the Prime orders get despatched first and the supersaver deliveries don't even get picked from the warehouse for 2-3 days from ordering.0

Surely you don't expect it quick if you use supersaver delivery.
It's cheaper because you are allowing them to put it at the back of the queue especially when they are busy and therefore result will vary.
I don't think you can draw a conclusion from 1 item delivered.0 -
i ordered a fitbit yesterday via prime 1 business day, it was in the evening so I expected it tomorrow. Apparently not arriving until Friday - 2 business days. Not impressed.0

Guarantee in how many days delivered ,which can't be believed due to these unsure factors like ,weather ,accident...Every time and every where don't forget to be happy.:rotfl:0

For example what if the delivery vehicle catches fire and your parcel goes up in smoke?
There is never ever ever a guarantee - only a basis for expectations, compensation etc.0 -

But that should not affect the despatch time.
I personally think they are doing it to encourage people to pay for prime which is a rip off. In the UK it is £79 pa, in Germany it is 49 Euros pa as it is France. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Indeed, I always use supersaver delivery on the basis that it should arrive by the estimated date. If it happens to come earlier that's just an added bonus.
Personally I have never understood why people want things like Cat flaps or CDs to be delivered next day. I am quite happy to wait a few days. Even more baffled by people who queue up at midnight to get a copy of book0 -

Some people are not very organised with buying birthday presents (I'll admit a catflap is odd present).
Sometimes it's about knowing where you are to take a delivery, for example I've just moved flats and wasn't sure which one to use as a delivery addres (I used work instead).
I guess if some people are home, 1 or 2 days a week then they might need this.
Not everyone can get parcels delivered at work. For some people it's a real nightmare, although in recent years there have been improvements like Amazon locker and picknig things up from Tesco/Argos.0 -

On the item page it would tell you the cut off time for next day, it is very likely that if you ordered in the evening it would come the day after. Thats still one business day away. If it arrives later than the estimate given when you originally ordered them complain, you will often get a month of Prime for free.0
