Weds 22 July 2015. What small dfw stuff will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky :Dand the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!

What a beautiful day :T
small plans for the day:
* [STRIKE]email friend re info on job I have an interview for[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]gardening [/STRIKE]- think the courgette plant looks like it's going to be ok, but still looking sorry for it's self! Have a few things to repot and want to sow some more salad leavesdidn't do the repotting or sowing but did water plants. Courgette plants is definitely recovering :j
*[STRIKE] flylady[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]NSD[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]go for a run[/STRIKE]week 2 run 2 of C25K done

* look at internet provider as ours has come out of the super cheap deal and was £29 this month :eek: didn't do
* do an energy supplier check didn't do
* make soda bread and cheese straws didn't do
* [STRIKE]phone up gym as [/STRIKE]I was given an exercise referral scheme leaflet when I went to see a counsellor yesterday and find out how it works. But in essence I need a referral from the GP and then I get a 12 week membership where it is £4 a session and they have a swimming pool and 2 saunas as well as all the gym facilities :j
Ok think that's it for today. Have a lovely day everyone x
didn't do everything as have decided I am going to do things that make me feel happy at the moment. Spent some time sorting out the shed while looking for wine making stuff and found 2 disposible BBQs - we're going to a party on the beach on Saturday and needed one :T also some pipe that I can use as a stake for the courgette plant, enough wood filler and sealant to last the rest of our lives
I also posted on a community group as my dd has finally got somewhere to live, which is great but it has basic furniture and nothing else. We are minimalists so only have the basics of what we need - i.e. bedding 2 sets each for our bed and dgd's, 4 plates, 4 cups etc and things not good financially. So posted a comment asking if anyone could donate anything - cups, plates, cutlery, bedding, towels. I have been inundated with replies and have managed to get given everything she needs to set up and the people have been dropping it here today :ADF as at 30/12/16

Morning all
Thanks for the start Maria
List for today:
Check banks (done)
Finish cleaning house, all downstairs today, plus the bathroom floor, which ALWAYS needs cleaning due to unfortunate choice of alternating black and white tiles Done
Ironing :eek: Not done
Make up spare bed Done
Feed and clean water for hens Done
Check to see if they need cleaning out OK atm
Meals from stores Done
Possibly a NSD - I have a £2.50 off a £15 spend voucher from Sainsburys, so I will do the main shopping there this week. The £15 might even be enough, as I have lots in. I will have to check the cupboards to see whether I need to do it today, or if it can wait till tomorrow. Whichever, I will walk and trundle my trolley to save fuelDidn't do it today, perhaps tomorrow, but obviously if I can manage another NSD that is a good thing, right?
Cut back, weed and feed strawberry pots and baskets, now that they have finished fruiting (baby GD was cross when she rooted through the leaves yesterday and found no strawberries :rotfl: Looking for, and eating them, was a highlight of coming to see Grandma) Done
Summer prune fruit trees (they are minis, and there are only 5, so this is not as big a job as it sounds) Not done
Water anything that needs it Done the back garden, still the pots at the front to do
Pick any produce that is readyFound some French beans
Did a few Onepoll surveys
Hope things start to look up today for some of our regular posters who have had job / car / family/ health issues recently0 -
ally just read yesterday's post. Hope you're ok. Will you be able to get JSA/HB while you're out of work? (although from my recent experience of this I understand how difficult that can be)
I remember when this happened to you the last time. Are you able to start looking for other jobs that are permanent? xDF as at 30/12/16

Hope your ok ally.
Last night didn't go to plan and I am now hopping around on crutches! Went to circuits and just after the warm up I tipped over on my ankle whilst walking to get my water bottle :rotfl: Don't think any real damage is done, just a sprain.
Today I have/will:-
* Get OH to locate crutches lingering in the garden! Unfortunately where they've been in the garden the buttons have seized and they're a bit too high but better than nothing!
* Check banks
* Take lunch to work
* Check shopitize etc for deals and see if anything I need
* Check FPL
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Dinner from stores (what should have been last nights dinner!)
* Sort out clothes in bedroom

Morning Moneysavers
- LSD today - need to pick up some jacket potatoes and sour cream on the way home for tea tonight (to be topped with chilli from the freezer). I'm down to my last £10 to last until Tuesday so will withdraw this :eek:
- All meals from stores other than the jacket potatoes
- It's my long day at work so I'm here until 7pm
- Surveys and FPL to do
- Bank to check to make sure all my dd's and the car insurance has gone out
- Ironing to do when I get home
- Finalise budget for next month in my spending diary
- File away my annual student loan statement. I'm very nearly under the £10,000 mark - frustrating that it doesn't seem to have gone down much considering I graduated 9 years ago! I did one of those online calculators and apparently at my current rate it will be paid off in 15 years time (I'll be 45:eek:)
- Checked Noodle credit report which now includes a credit score
Bob - thanks for the good wishes yesterday re. moving in with the boyfriend. It is very exciting! It will also work out cheaper in the long run re. rent, bills etc. You never know once this debt is paid off I might be able to finally start saving for a mortgage!

Morning all,
Oh dear, a sprained ankle on the thread now, to add to all our other woes - hope it recovers soon.
Just a quick one from me this morning as I've spent ages on the phone to our car insurers, & I really need to crack on.
Today's small things:
*All my little everyday energy saving measures - Oooh, note to self to go & switch heated towel radiator off as soon as I sign out of here. Popped it on for a short while earlier to deal with soggy towels. Don't intend paying for it all day!
*Made bread dough for tonight's pizza & bread rolls for rest of week's lunches.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Free bag of treats arrived in the post which Cat is testing as part of a survey. Full size bag. Cat saw them coming out of the envelope & thought they were going to be opened immediately. They were not.
*Do watering & maintenance of veggie garden.
*Sow more radishes.
*Free fitness cutting down more of my flower borders. The early summer stuff needs hacking back so that the later flowering stuff can thrive.
*Do a few surveys - the more I can do, the more little bits of money I'll be able to transfer to our new car fund.
*Phoned insurance this morning, now that police have supplied me with the plate number of the psycho driver who rammed us. They ran his number thru the insurance database & he doesn't appear to have UK insurance. May be insured in home country, but I have no hopes of any financial improvement for us with no witnesses having come forward. Insurance company very helpful though. Said they will keep the incident logged on our account for 3 months & if we haven't been in touch to start the claims procedure, they will just remove it. If costs have to come from our own insurance, given the swiftly increasing mileage of the car & our intention to replace it in a year's time, when it won't be worth very much, we will just make good the damage ourselves as best we can. From a sensible financial point of view, it seemed best to log the incident with our insurers though, so that we can keep our options open a little longer in the hope that the police do manage to pull Psycho over for a grilling.
*Start catching up on a few letters to family & friends. Emails & Facebook are all very well, but there's nothing like receiving a proper letter through the post is there, & sitting down to read it with a steaming hot cafetiere of coffee. Found some stamps I'd forgotten about, so don't need to buy those.
OK, must crack on. Have a decent day, everyone, & keep those hands on your pence.
