Hi,
I hope some one can answer a quick question.
I have car insurance with More than
I am seriously thinking of changing to online car insurance, this might sound abit silly but as its online and no one at the end of the phone, how would i know its a proper company and not a scam
Does any one have online insurance who could maybe list the good and bad points.
I'd be very grateful.
Thanks

all the majors do it, direct line, morethan, Barclays etc
most are provided by direct line anyway under the other companies name
it's worth signing up to quidco
www.quidco.com
and getting additional cashback, I've had £99 for car ins + £70 for Buildings (and they were the cheapest quotes anyway)Ex forum ambassador

Have you tried going through the compared car insurance sites like
www.confused.com
www.compare.com
they give you a lot more choice then just a single site. I have always got my car insurance on the net and found no problem with doing this online.
Good Luck.Please Thank Me

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I have tried the sites that Mishy mentioned thats where i found the cheapest quotes - hooray
I'll definatly check quidco.com out too!!0 -
I always check out the online brokers and then give the agent I have used for years a call. He can not always beat the price but he will come close (£20 or so) and I know I will get the service if needed.
One thing though is to make sure you are comparing like-for-like. Some online companies offer a low rate but then you find out it only covers 10 months (not a year). Others demand much higher excesses etc.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
my insurance isn't online, mainly cos i had my old computer then and it was impossible to get anywhere with it, if you ring up as many 0800 numbers as you have the patience for then you'll get a good deal, my renewal is due any week now and i think it will be a good laugh, the company i am with is consistently cheap and i get intrest free monthly payment optionsthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

Most of the comparison sites do NOT give you the best deal at all. They simply point you towards those who pay them, and leave out those who do not.
Most of the cheaper ones do not pay comparison sites, but offer cheaper insurance in the first place. Most of the more expensive will pay, as they can afford to easier.
Comparison sites are extremely biased, it's how they make their money. All they are is a middle man, taking a cut.0 -

Bang on GD, The best the comparison sites could offer me is around £750, A post on the Subaru forum, found me a ins co who offered £550. Well worth shopping around other than confused.com/moneysupermarket etc.
