eBay member trying to return item using returns policy

Options
I have sold a used pair of children's shoes, listed the size, details put used on them.
The buyers now trying to return the shoes saying they are the wrong size, and are not as described. The canvas shoes were washed and clean when sent but buyer trying to claim they were dirty and in a terrible condition.
I truly believe they are trying to pull a fast one, sending back a different pair.
What can I do??
1% challenge £2015.50 = £20.16
Make £2.50 a day £80.82/77.50
Sealed pot opening Nov 2018: ???
Going back to being to basics. And penny pinching in 2018 This will be my year 😘

Accept the return. You can't do anything until then.

Indeed I would, only to the scum bags that thieve from honest Ebay sellers. These people know the tricks, low value items, claim they are defective and most of the time knowing that the seller will not want them back either. And as well as that they threaten negative feedback which is a killer for sellers. So they get a refund and keep the item.
    What do Ebay do? nothing!!!

So yes, for these dishonest Ebay sellers, I will do to them what they do to me.

If they send a different pair of items back, send them a final letter before action, and take them to Court.

I have had someone do 'swapsies' on me - they also worked for a local council and ordered the items to their work address. Very silly. The court summons did the trick. Didn't get to court, actually wish it had, but they paid me back...

Have you told the buyer the photos aren't of the same pair? She may have mixed up sellers. Have a look at watchcount and see if she has bid on any other shoes.

I can't understand why, if you've listed a pair of shoes , fully photographed, showing the rubber trim if there is one , the sides, showing the sole with the size on, and the buyers sent photos on the case of a different size-I don't understand why you haven't just rung ebay to highlight this?

I've got to say , selling a used pair of washed kids canvas shoes sounds like you are asking for trouble. Even immaculate used leather shoes don't fetch mega bucks.
Canvas shoes usually need chucking away after wear imho. At the very least rubber white trims discolor rapidly.
    Confused...

I had similar thoughts, the suggestion of taking court action seems a bit crazy given we can't be talking more than a few quid.

I adopt a zero tolerance to fraud. It's the principle, not the cost. And the scammers pays the cost not me, so it discourages them from doing it again.

Forget this is shoes - pretend it's a mobile phone, you sent an item out with one IMEI and got a blocked trashed one back, with a different IMEI. You probably wouldn't be as sanguine about it then.

Folks moan about being scammed, but never seem to have the backbone to sort it out it, so it's not surprising it happens.
