Amex transfer

Hi all,

Does anyone know which credit card transfer a balance from AMEX? I have the gold account with the card number starting with 3 and 15 numbers long. Santander said they only do the Amex that is a MasterCard starting with 5.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Agreed. If it was a MasterCard it wouldn't be an Amex!!!

    I think they were getting confused with the old Diners Club cards that used to run on the MasterCard network in some countries and had a MasterCard card number.

    They may mean a dual card account that has Mastercard and Amex, they would transfer using the Mastercard number. But that isn't Amex as such.

    I have transferred a balance off my Amex Gold charge card (15 digits) and onto Tesco credit card.

    I tried Barclaycard, but they said they couldn't do it, only for Amex credit cards not charge cards.

    Some credit card companies don't like doing balance transfers from Amex because the Amex card number is only 15 digits not 16.

    It has worked fine for me with the Tesco 0% balance transfer card.
