Probably a daft PC/TV question.

Options
Is there any means of linking/sending programme links across the 12' something room from my tower unit of PC to my TV which has broadband signal from the PC?

If I'm not thinking the impossible, how can I arrange this, bearing in mind I'm a duffer in mid-eighties. PLEASE.

TV is ? PC is running what? Come on, help please to help you ...
P.S. the TV will not be getting it's broadband signal from the PC (unless the PC has...etc etc).

When you say programme links what do you mean, I was born in the early Fifties, by my reckoning the mid eighties makes you 30 yrs younger than me :rotfl:

Apologies for not conveying what I'm thinking, but in blunt terms I am able to, on the PC,to get more missed TV programmes than the TV 'Demand' provides, some dating back to the 1980s so would like to get them to the TV so that my wife will be able to appreciate them too.

The other question begs, that being a non-technical codger would it be simple enough for me do?
    Please.

perhaps joe just needs to run a hdmi cable , (with possibly an adaptor on his pc) to his TV , that option might only cost him about £8

however , as tavernman says , lets gather more info first

I'm sorry to have bothered you with this question as I am a senile 85 year old and clearly won't be able to do much, if anything but just to answer your question the TV is 40" Toshiba with three HDMI sockets but too far from the PC to run a cable a between the two.
Many thanks for your interest anyway and Kind regards

joe , cables come in 5m and 10 mtr length's , look here , and select lowest price to top , http://cpc.farnell.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?catalogId=15002&langId=69&storeId=10180&categoryId=700000007494&sort=P_PRICE&pageSize=25&showResults=true&sf=705&pf=110120322,110120328,110162878,110197035,110201956

a 5 m cable is only £3.50 DO NOT even think of going to PCWorld for one of those , they will charge you £20!!!!

whats on the back of the PC , regarding video plugs , is there a HDMI or a DVI (white one) , if there is only a DVI , there is an adaptor on ebay for less than £2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181785821029?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

so , we can have "whatever" is showing on your PC , now showing and playing on your 40 in TV for about £5 , without buying fancy dongles etc

Joe , please tell us the make/model of PC , maybe we can check for you

if your local to me (preston lancs) , I weill even pop round with the stuff free of charge (coz you is older than me!)

what do you use to watch these extra ondemand shows on your pc ?

if its things like netflix/amazon instant video. Then it might be possible to get those apps onto the tv as well. (im assuming its a smart tv as you are already watching other ondemand stuff)

the other option would be to use wireless HDMI, but these arn't that cheap

or even just a £3 cable! to view what is on the screen ,

Joe if you click on a youtube or other link on your PC , and the film plays on your PC , with a cable , whatever is on your PC would be shown on your TV instead , no setting up of platting about
